Nice deal if it works for you. My local AMC theater gets around this by not showing any movies before noon.

Yeah, this has been around for a while now. Not all theaters participate.

Just look at the newspaper AMC ads, they have it there all the time. IMAX as low as $8.

All the theaters including AMC I've been to have had matinee prices for 5 or 6 and that's any movie before 5pm so I don't see how this is a deal.

Believe it or not, not everyone lives in your geographic area and yes...in some places...only the 1st show is discounted and not all shows before 5.

Maybe if you stepped back a little you might be able to see further...then again, the world you live in is probably flat and taking one too many steps might lead to a nasty fall.

You can make this deal even slicker by spending the whole day in the theater and bringing your own food. 6 movies / 5 dollars = less than 1 dollar per movie = cheaper than redbox and you get the widescreen and surround sound.
