HDDVD add-on for Xbox 360 34.99 plus ship at Frys.com
There have been a couple posts lately about HD-DVDs and a few people are looking for players. Well Fry's had several different bundles for the xbox 360 add-on a while back and still seem to have this item in stock.

It's the add-on player, remote and a copy of King Kong. I have a Toshiba stand-alone unit but with only 7.76 shipping it appears to be a good deal for someone who already has an xbox. I hear that it can also be used with a Windows PC as a player as well. Not 100% sure on that but it sounds like it should work no prob.

So 42.75 shipped looks good to me. Shipping was a few cents more to Texas ($8.08) and California ($7.98)

In store pickup also available. Appears to be in stock in Houston. Save on shipping, and pick it up because tax would be less than shipping if you have a Fry's nearby...

Wish these things would drop more in price. Both Fry's near me have a ton in stock at $35.

I got one of these when they were $50 and came with 5 movies... might have been Free Shipping as well. I don't think this is as good of a deal with only King Kong, but you can get a lot of titles for under $4 each at Amazon right now, with free shipping on $25+ orders. I've been spending way too much on HD-DVDs lately, but they're so cheap!

How well do these things work in preventing RROD and other overheating problems? My 360 keeps on confusing itself for a toaster.

I agree. If this was less than $20 I'd get one. Eventually we may get there.

I don't understand how Fry's still have this discontinued product. Every time I go in the store, there's multiple carts full of them. Are they really that hard to sell?

I went into F.Y.E. a month ago or so and they had three of them on the shelf for $49.99 brand new, I have about 35 HD DVDs that I paid $5 or less for each of them from inetvideo.com so it's tempting to buy another player on this $34.99 deal just in case mine ever breaks or something.

If anything, it's nice to have one drive for movies and one for games - less disc swapping.

Newegg [newegg.com] also has the 360 HD DVD player for $34.99 + shipping (looks to be about $9.00 for UPS 3-day) and no tax for most.

Fry's in San Marcos, CA has MANY of these, including some with the King Kong inside...it's been $35 for a while now, I keep waiting for them to drop to $20 or less [read: "watching intently"].
Fry's here also still has quite a few HD DVDs, but most are $6.99....still waiting for them to drop to $5 or less...
