Warning about Chronoshark and warraties
I've seen a lot of deals from Chronoshark posted in this forum and was surprised when they always said that their watches had a full manufacturer's warranty. As anyone who buys better watches knows, normally if you buy from anyone other than an authorized dealer you don't get any factory warranty.

As such, I was really suspicious when they advertised a Tissot watch with manufacturer's warranty yesterday. The Swatch Group which owns Tissot (along with Omega, Longines, Blancpain, and many other brands) has a reputation for never servicing any watch bought off of the internet.

So, I called the Swatch Group service center in Secaucus, NJ to see what they had say. They said that they check the serial number on all watches sent in for service against a database to ensure that the warranty card matches the dealer number to whom it was distributed, and that if they don't match the service request is rejected. They said that there is no way they would ever service a watch sold through Chronoshark since they aren't an authorized dealer.

So be aware that when you buy a watch through Chronoshark, you may be getting NO WARRANTY AT ALL

The warranties are listed on each watch they sell. Sometimes they are the manufacturer's warranty, sometimes they are through a 3rd party like ILS.

They aren't trying to be shady. They are an overstock type reseller.

People should stop and think about what lines like "we only service warranties on goods purcahsed from authorized dealers" really means.

It's simply a control mechanism to (try) to protect MRRP's and stop the free market ultimately deciding what an item is worth - as presumably "authorized dealers" are only "authorized" to sell the product at the MRRP or above.

There is no reason why a company shouldn't honor a warranty on an item - irregardless of where it was purchased. There is nothing about the fact I bought a watch from Chronoshark that would effect the integrity of the watch.

In most EU countries it is illegal to sell items without a 1 year warranty - factory or otherwise. I wish the US authorities cracked down this practice - which is basically nothing more than cartelism.

I bought an accutron from them and it stopped working after a few weeks. I emailed bulova, indicating the serial number and where I got it from, and they said I can send it in for warranty work, no problem.... however I have yet to actually send it so maybe I still get denied haha...

They are not dealers and so cannot sell watches with full warranty. Plus they sell low end watches most of the time.

I have purchased a few from them with no problem. ( less than 70.00).

If you buy from a dealer you end up paying double that price. And for that you may as well buy two !

I bought a watch from them and didn't like it. I live in NYC and dropped it off (for return) and they were very friendly and issued a credit promptly. I would buy from them again, but with any internet watch purchase - as the OP noted - warrantys are generally invalidated...

Has anyone actually contacted Chronoshark about it?

All I read in this thread so far boils down to "in general", "in my opinion", or "i think" type responses, which don't provide any tangible proof (or disproof) of te issue at hand, and neither does the OPs post, since phone jockeys are not necessarily aware of every single authorized reseller, and last I heard watch industry is finally realizing the potential of the interwebz and is changing to fit the void created by Macy's, jewelry shops, and other MSRP outlets.

I guess I'll drop them an email myself and ask them. I got a Citizen Ecodrive from them, and I am pretty sure it's 100% warrantied. Don't know how anal Tissot is, but if they are - that's their loss really, but we'll see what response I get.

chronoshark is an authorized invicta dealer, but other than that, i've never seen them claim to offer full manufacturer's warranty on other brands.
