    Just got a 60GB PS3 from Game Crazy for $280. This is a promotion for this weekend only. Prices on PS3 systems range from $250 to $280.

    They are also having specials on the Nintendo DS and PSPs available as well

    What is the warranty on Game Crazy's Used Stuff?
    90 Days without service contract for any defects or failures the system has. You will be given the exact same model and it will be honored at the same price. If the new one has a problem within the 90 days, bring it back and they will continue to replace it for you.

    With service contract, this can extend out to 27 months for a replacement, but if you are outside of the 90 day period you can only exchange it once.


    Okay, i want to pull the trigger...will Game Crazy hold?
    Yes, if you call ahead and verify there is a system available, they can put it on a business day hold for you.


    What is the failure rate of PS3s?
    Lately, I've been hearing that older PS3 systems with the 90nm chips are starting to do the sony version of "RRoD". This is caused by heat melting the solder that keep the legs of the chips on the board. Legs either lift off slightly or the solder cools and shorts two legs together. Sony PS3 had better cooling than Microsoft Xbox 360 did, so you don't hear about this problem as much. Newer (non-backwards compatible) PS3 systems use 65nm tech for their chips, resulting in lower power consumption and less energy being transformed into heat. Less heat means lower likelihood of the issue occurring.

    Note that there are reports of system updates coming out that might also cause the issue. Also note that 20 and 60gb PS3 systems tend to have their updates come out a day or 2 after all the rest, due to different hardware.


    Is this a good time to pick up a PS3?
    Only if you care about backwards compatibility. If you plan on keeping your PS2, or don't care about BC, wait a bit as pressure from the industry may force Sony to drop prices on their hardware again soon

    All USED games normally $18.99 and under are 2 for $25. Exercised with care, you can do well with this.

    The deal is nation wide at all game crazy's. I was privy to the memo on it. My local game crazy and i have a REALLY good relationship...i ordered a 60gb PS3 2 weeks ago...it arrived and i didn't like the condition, so i passed....they held on to it for me and called me when the memo came down yesterday.

    These ARE used, 90 day warranty, and you can get a service contract to replace it for up to 2 years....not worth it to some, but for me, with a 60gb, it was well worth it.

    CALL FIRST, staff are required to answer any questions you put to them, to the best of their ability. Anybody that's worth their weight in salt will get you the answer you need WITHOUT putting miles on the car.
    If you're looking for something specific, just ask.
    If you don't know what you're looking for ( ), just ask if they're having a 4th of July sale, and, if so, what's in it. Once they list off something you're interested in, they will of course quote price AND even hold for you so you don't lose it during the 40 minute trip.

    Most game stores will offer a during-the-course-of-business-day hold, I use this functionality ALL the time...snagged up three PS2 network adapters (retail at GC = $10 used, eBay = $50 - minus fees) here in San Diego County the other day.
