Can you use this to create a set of recovery discs? I'd like to have a set of discs that will recover my computer & its installed applications. Don't need the data, just the C: drive installation with windows, etc.
As long as u have the recovery boot disk, u can do a sector-by-sector backup which basically records your pc as is, so when u recover it, it will be exactly the way you had it.. it worked for me when I got a real nasty virus... but make sure u do sector by sector.... of course u can also just backup one folder or whatever else in between, but why not just do it all to an external and have peace of mind...

I wonder why this great program is put on sale so much in the last couple of months... anyone hear of something even better coming out?

I love Acronis True Image, copied windows perfectly to a new HD. Something which Ghost9 failed at horribly. Ghost took 2hrs to fail and Acronis took only 15mins to work.

I'm not arguing that Acronis is good, but this sounds funny. What, you expect it to grow arms and turn your drive on for you?

Why would anyone pay anything for disc imaging products when Clonezilla is free and open source? It can clone anything -- in any OS.

Checked out the reviews on this...is it really as bad as what the reviews say? On Amazon, one star is the single biggest response category http://www.amazon.com/Acronis-Tru...addOneStar ..., and even on Acronis site about half the reviews are 3 or less http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...6832200008.

I use it and it works great, always have.

Most of the PC users out there are 'tards. so I'd ignore the 1 star ratings because 99% of the time it's user error that they're blaming on this software.

I tried out the beta for this version and it images and restore my HD flawlessly, but unfortunately the beta phase is long over. I am not sure why people have so many problems with this software.

SyncToy is just simple backup. Acronis is an imaging program and can even do incremental imaging. SyncBack is a better alternative to SyncToy, BTW.

I'm in for one. MaximumPC seems to like the program, so I'll give it a shot, especially since I just bought a new drive, too.

I currently use GParted, which is a free alternative, but the extra features in Acronis sound good.

    Does not support Dynamic Disks!

I was about to try to take advantage for my PC (Vista x64 and soon Win 7 x64) but I found a post that said that Acronis True Image Home does NOT support Dynamic Disks!

EDIT: The Acronis True Image Home 2009 user manual says "Acronis True Image Home does not support dynamic and GPT disks." That sucks. All my disks are 'Dynamic'.

I was relying on SyncToy 2.0 until Microsoft updated that download page recently to say "Please note that there are known issues when using SyncToy 2.0 with a Home NAS. When using a NAS, there is a chance of file corruption. This issue will be fixed in an upcoming release." So I have stopped using SyncToy on my NAS
