How do I get all the money off a prepaid card?

So I have a couple prepaid VISA cards with like 1 and 5 bucks and change on them..

How do I spend ALL of the money on them? its difficult to buy things with such low dollar amounts.

Most places I go deny the card, I even tried using my paypal merchant account to buy something from myself and it didn't work.

I use up mine at Kroger gas pumps. I just tell them the exact amount left on the card and that is how much gas they authorize. I have done as low as $2.34 with no problem.

buy amazon gift card for that exact amount...

or if u buy at certain stores like BJs (the wholesale club), they authorize the exact amount out of your total purchase and then remaining amt u can pay by cash or other card or whatever...

The amazon thing wont work if its an amex giftcard - amex strictly forbids buying a giftcard with a giftcard so itll get denied in amazons system.

the gas station trick is probobly the best bet for most people. it worked fine for me.

The amazon gift card idea works, but you must purchase a gift card of 5 bucks or more. i had a card with 1.67 on it. So I stopped at my local gas station at 1am, pissed off the attendant a little bit cuz i had to have him authorize two cards, but hey it worked. took about twice as long as a regular fill up cuz of the walking back and forth, but it worked well.

Should also work on your local (chain) Supermarket.

Depending on the retailer/cashier you can basically go an put any amount you have onto a gift card. I've done this at Best Buy.

If you have $5 or more left...you can basically put any amount of $5 or more (including cents) on an Amazon GC for example.

I never ceases to amaze me the number of ways to screw people out of their money that these rebate guys come up with. I now have a small collection of cards, each with a buck or two left on them. Useless.

Take them to your bank and ask them to withdraw the remaining funds off the card. If they say there is a service fee then abort the transaction.
