WDTV or even WDTV2 just sux as compared to this one. look at the features! and yeh, i noticed the free wifi adapter just after posting, therefore, am updating the post. thanks for the input!

Why is there an annoying rebate when this is a pre-release item? the product is not even available yet, they should just sell it at the lower price from the start.

hard drive is not included... that adds another $50-$100.

I wonder if PS3 can do all these things after some tweaking.

Uses the same chipset as the o-play. Does it have the same deficiencies as the o-play?

Don't know much about this item, but I can say that I had a GREAT customer service experience with Patriot regarding a late rebate submission (my fault). They provided an excellent level of customer service and really made me consider them first when comparing product offerings.

This device is similar to the Brite-View CinemaTube 3-in-1 [brite-view.com] which in turn is like the Asus O!Play HDP-R1 [asus.com]. From what I've gathered they all use Realtek inside and a version of Linux for the operating environment. The UI is pretty weak (it gets the job done though) but once more individuals get their hands on these devices I'm sure that will change. Some are trying to get XBMC running on the O!Play. I'm in for one.

I just purchased the O!Play at Fry's from another SD thread (gotta return it now). Saw the CinemaTube was going for cheap on Amazon, ordered it, then canceled the order. Now I have a pre-order on this device. I like the option for the internal HD. Hopefully a 1TB drive will fit in there.

Same here. I have the Asus O!Play player, which I like much more then my old WD TV Player, and ordered this one too.
