This can and should be used by you to post updated deal information.
Be sure to read this because it may contain answers to your questions!
Under power cords, you can click on the first option:

Power Cord, NEMA 5-15P to C13, wall plug, 10 feet

    Adds the cord for free.

If you're going to add more ram later, don't forget to select "2GB Memory (1x2GB), 1066MHz, Dual Ranked UDIMM add $0", same amount of ram, but only one stick.

Consider upgrading to the X3440 for $99 more. The X3440 has HyperThreading which adds a decent performance increase, differentiating it from i5's. Your operating system will see 4 cores, but 2 threads for each of those cores for a total of 8 threads. When you open you task manager, it'll actually seem as if you have 8 CPUs. Getting Hyperthreading at this price level is considerably slick.
    See: http://www.tomshardware.com/revie...410-5.html

Per this thread.... http://communities.vmware.com/thread/241626 ...It WORKS with the free newly released ESXi 4 Update 1 but without Health/Status monitoring.

<insert inane comment about whether you can use a graphics card here>
<insert inane comment about capacity of the power supply here>

Okay, someone help me out here, because I've never looked at Xeon parts as a possible desktop component.

    1) What's the difference between this processor and an i5 750? Anything of consequence?
    2) What's keeping me from picking this box up as is and slapping a mid-range PCIe graphics card (think GTS 250 or ATI 4780) and making it a HTPC/WoW Box for a 42" TV?
    3) Any other hurdles I'm not considering when buying an engineered server and using it at home?

The fastest PCIe slot is x8, but it is PCIe 2.0 and is the full length of a x16 slot. I don't think that this would limit very many current graphics cards. Onboard graphics would be very weak and may not even support any sort of 3D acceleration, not even for the 3D flowerbox screensaver on Windows. The 305W PSU would probably support a 4870 or GTS250. There is no onboard audio, so you would be better off with an ATI card which has the integrated Realtek audio which would go out through HDMI. 3rd party PCIe graphics cards have been confirmed to work when you disable the embedded video in BIOS (link).

It's not small, there are no PCI slots. ECC memory is required. If it's anything like my SC440, it's loud at startup, but very quiet the rest of the time.

Anyone find a way to get free shipping? Also, what's the most cashback for this? Someone over @ FW mentioned "bing" but I don't see dell sb cashback anywhere on bing .

It's times like these that I really miss being able to 'sell' back the unwanted components to Dell after taking delivery.
