Harbor Freight Black Friday 2009 Ad
Thanks to kboxvegas for posting these two quick scans in the Official 2009 Black Friday Deals & Ad List & Discussion Thread.

Figured that this deserves its own thread instead of being buried in the main one. I took kboxvegas' pictures and cropped and resized them to get them down to a more reasonable size (don't lose any readability) and then PDF'd the two pages together.

Last year's advertisement was 8-pages and 100+ items, so hopefully the other pages (if they exist) turn up soon.

Item list from http://bfads.net/Harbor-Freight

Okay, a question for the SD guys here.

We've just bought our first home, and my husband has determined that he's going to start collecting tools. Whether or not he will use them is irrelevant, he's just going to start buying them as he sees them.

I'm really liking that 3 piece tool chest in the ad as one of his gifts this year. Typically, I get him gaming or computer stuff (as we are both geeks), but I think the chest may be a good buy and (unlike the PSP I bought him 2 years ago) may get some use.

So, do you think that big-arsed tool chest would make a good gift?

do any of you get ESPN the magazine?

if so, take a look at the Harbor freight ad towards the back in there...
you get a free flashlight, as posted here-
http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...&t=1530029

but they have a page full of coupons there- I know for sure the 6.99 Pliers set is included in that... I will have to double check later today what's on the remainder of the ESPN flyer, but I wonder if there are more of the BF "specials" available now...

I think that thing is huge, unless he is a mechanic or works on cars in his spare time I would think that is a little more than what he would need. But at that price it's a great deal.

I recently bought a $10 angle grinder while on sale. I decide a week or so later that I didn't really need it and returned it, with the receipt. They refunded me $20. Has anyone else seen/taken advantage of this? Is that typical practice a HF?

This might be a good "here is the space for your tools" gift, to help limit the influx of tools that he gets.

Sometimes yes. It depends on the cashier though, if they notice the actual price that you paid or if you used a coupon.

I usually return the HF items w/out the receipt if I need an extra bit of store credit. They will return you the regular price if the item isn't currently on sale.

Generally speaking a 3 piece tool chest makes a great gift. It also gives you ideas for gifts for the next 30 or so birthdays, fathers days, etc .etc. Never can have enough tools.

But before you get this, take a trip to some place like Sears and see what they have. You can't tell by the picture if this one is 4 feet or 6 feet so do some home work. If you can't get something the size of a hammer in the upper drawers, it's not worth it. (Once you put liners in the smaller drawers, screwdrivers will bind.) Also check out the clearance area of sears as there usually is one or two discounted chests there.

Then you can check this one out at Harbor Freight and see how it compares. The price is great, but if the drawers are small and don't work well, husband will not be happy for long...

RE: tool chest. If it doesn't have ball bearing slides then it isn't worth it. Also, having a deep drawer for larger item is very useful, which that one does not. Some tools you can buy cheap, but large tool boxes and ratchets are not the place to skimp.

Large tool boxes hold lots of tools and lots of tools are heavy. If the drawers don't slide well when empty, they are going to be a PITA when they are loaded down with tools.

I just bought my first home and have been amassing tools at an alarming rate. I think a tool chest woudl be an awesome Christmas gift and if any of my ladies are reading this,.. you know what to buy me
