    Nice. Is this actually a 2TB drive or is it two 1TB drives in a single enclosure?

    I noticed it doesn't list OSX compatibility. Would re-formatting it suffice to make it work?

    From the look of the size of the external, seems to be just 1 drive.

    I would assume so. It may not list compatibility since manufacturers only like to list OSX compatibility when they are trying to get Mac users to buy the more expensive "Mac" versions that normally have firewire (e.g. Seagate and the FreeAgent's in which the Mac edition is substantially more than the USB 2.0 only version, and oddly enough, is sometimes more than the triple interface version with eSATA, USB, and Firewire).

    I would say that a reformat to HFS+ should be fine, unless they gave the drive some weird firmware that only runs on windows, which I highly doubt.

    The 1.5TB version is only $115.19. Is it really worth the extra $45 for the extra 500gb?

    Overall is this a decent deal? any idea what type of drive is inside?

    Mine came out to $169.59 shipped with tax.

    About 8.48 cents / GB.

    1.5TB = 7.68 Cents / GB (Before Tax)
    2.0TB = 7.99 Cents / GB (Before Tax)

    It isn't much, only paying $00.0031 Cents more per GB which is what? another $6.20 for 2TB vs 1.5TB in higher per GB cost?

    It might be worth the premium to have that much more storage in one drive.

    I agree. I thought about going for the 1.5 to save a few bucks, but I'd prefer to pay a little more to have that much space in a single drive. In for 1!

    It looks like these are the Western digital Caviar GREEN 2TB drives. So at least it is a reliable drive that won't get too hot.

    I remember paying $400 for my first hard drive, a 20MB compressed (with doublestacker) to 40MB.

    We really are spoiled these days, especially with a 2,000,000MB hard drive costing only around $170 SHIPPED!
