Sales tax killed the deal for me

Wish I lived in Oregon.

Tax was $22 for the 32GB model for me in Missouri.

$17 tax makes it not so great, but still nice deal. Think I'll wait until my mind is made up on whether to pick this or the zune hd. My iPod touch 1st generation is getting ready to retire this christmas.

Thanks for posting. I'm looking to get a 32gb for my husband. Initial price is great but the tax does bump it up for me. Has anyone heard anything about the price coming down some more before Christmas?

There will be no official price drop from Apple before Christmas, but retailers will giving out discounts like this deal is. I'd hold out a little longer until something better comes around.

Indeed. Last christmas I found a number of places that were basically selling them at full price and giving a gift card as a bonus for purchasing it since they are basically price-fixed, so if you can wait till then, you can find a slickerdeal.

We need to buy 3 of these as gifts. We are hoping to get good giftcard deal and use the gift card from the first one to get a discount on the next one. There are gift card deals for this every week at Target or TRU pretty much. Hopefully it will be a better deal on black friday!

overstock.com has 12% cashback, and no tax + $1 shipping. I ordered the 32GB model.

290.49 - 12% cashback + $1 shipping = $256.63

The only gotcha is that I haven't gotten a confirmation email from bing that I have earned cashback. I chatted with an overstock.com CSR, and he told that somebody will get back to me within 2 days. Holding my breath now !!!

I have placed and cancelled the order twice. I waited for 4 hrs after my 2nd order, before cancelling it. I have finally placed the order 3rd time, hoping that I will get confirmation email from bing. No luck.

I read elsewhere at SD that it proved helpful to keep a printout of the final confirmation order page that shows "bing cashback is activated. Shop now to earn 12% cashback rebate". So I have printed out the final order conformation page.

Hopefully, I can get my CB from bing.

Just FYI, there are only two models for the 3rd gen, 32GB and 64GB. The 8GB is 2nd gen. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipod_touch

I checked out the iPod you bought from Overstock and just want to let you know that one is NOT the 3rd Gen. It's actually the 2nd. Check out the Model No: MB533LL/A. The new 3rd Gen is MC008LL/A.
