That's actually a good idea- avoid the potential future trampling. I might stop by after work today and just not open it. Worse case scenario is that I have to return it later but it's along the way from work so not too much work for me

360 deals always feel more tempting then they actually are for me.

Assuming I spend the $100 gift card on a hard drive, another $75-$100 for the Wi-Fi, and then another $50 for a year of live and it's gone from basically a $100 360 to $325-$350+ purchase.

This is how..

Microsoft DOES NOT allow retailers to discount its consoles by a large percent.. This is why on black friday you will not see discounts on actual systems but on bundles..

As to why they are giving out a gift card this is why.. I don't have specific numbers on gift card sales at Walmart but i know that usually people spend more than the worth of a gift card at a store when they make the purchase.. Usually on the purchase that a person uses the gift card they spend close to 2x the value or more of the card ensuring repeat business....

The Arcade includes a wireless controller so you're set on that front as well.
