1080 may be one of the biggest factors in buying a HDTV for me. It is pretty standard nowadays with so many movies and video games in 1080. 1080 res is VERY important.
Games generally don't do 1080p. At most you see 720p for 90% of them, especially the big-budget ones with good graphics. That's actually a large part of the reason I think 720p's fine if you're using it for primarily TV and games - both of the sources still do 720p for the most part.

Blu-ray is going to always be 1080 though, so that could make the investment worth it.

bluray is essentially meant to be seen in 1080 right? You wouldnt buy $2000 speakers and run them through a $100 receiver would you?

The old CRT maker Goldstar IS LG. Would you buy the LG if it was labeled Goldstar on the bezel? Most times you truly get what you pay for. The LG is priced low for a reason.
    As I mentioned earlier......

Did you see the great deal on the Symphonic Surround Sound system? ... or the half off on the Lloyds 1080 LCD?

First of all its not that big of a difference. But....If they were throwing in something valuable for no extra cost, would you tell them to keep it? Are these people really that dense?

Well I am saying this TV alone at the price isnt a hot deal. The kicker is the extras you get. The extra wont be as good with this TV and come the next few weeks, blu ray playeres will be a lot cheaper and selling on ebay wont net a whole lot

essentially, i guess you can say that. but what isnt meant to be seen in 1080p? im telling you that if you hook up the bluray player to the 720p set, once calibrated correctly like any other set, it will look beautiful. i dont blame any of you guys because information about HDTVs is obtained from either experience or a LOT of reading....http://www.avsforum.com

I decided to bite the bullet and buy this one. Really seems like a great deal for those of us who want Plasma, considering the excellent reviews on this one. For a variety of reasons I think this is the slickest possible deal for me.

    My first HDTV! Very excited.

Did anyone get their tv yet? Mine comes this afternoon. I wanted to know if everyone was gonna use a break in disc even though Plasma manufacturers say it's not necessary anymore.

Has anyone had any problems with their tv? A friend of mine had to do a service order within days of his arriving and now mine won't turn on/display a picture so I have to do a service order. Hope it's just a fluke thing.
