Okay guys, to start this is my first post, long time lurker though. I got some more information at Walmart today about this and wanted to make sure to post it.

First of all, you CAN buy this tv now and price match later. They told me their policy is 10-14 days to price match. They also said if CS gives you any issues about PM'ing then just return/rebuy.

Now for the catch. The deal is 8 am to 12pm ONLY. It is automated in their computers that from 8-noon it will be the discounted price only. That means if you purchase this TV and you want to price match you MUST be at walmart between 8 and noon to get it pricematched. Also don't expect to show up there at 11:55, and then not get it price matched until 12:01 because they WILL NOT refund you any of the money after noon.

Again, I'm sure this is redundant but make sure that if you are pricematching/return rebuying that you are there between 8 am and noon.

Best of luck to you all. By the way the Shawnee KS walmart is now officially sold out of all the tv's for this saturdays sale. Bonner springs has 3 remaining and Lenexa at 75th has 1 left as of an hour ago.

I've now had this tv for about a week and am having problems. Anyone with this tv notice it going back to "dynamic (fixed)" av mode on its own after a while? I can't find any info. I've gotten the pic just the way I like it on the "user" mode, just doesn't want to stay there. It was the display at my local WM. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I got another 20% off the sale price, great deal, but this is driving me crazy.

I think it depends on the type of consumer that you are, but i agree that to buy any random warranty is not good practice.

Who would buy a new car if a warranty was not included?
I might if you give me a better price on it without one, so at least i could consider the cost in the overall sale.

When any item you buy has consumables then a warranty is a consideration, i.e. tires, brakes, bulbs, ect.

On a consumer item like this one that you would be using everyday for many hours a day, its a consideration for me.

Consider the projector bulb warranty, 2 bulbs over 3 years.
Each bulb cost on average 300 x 2 = 600, I bought this on ebay for 90 and with cashback it was 78.
I had my first bulb go out at 1 year bought the replacement and was reimbursed for the 300 in 2 weeks.

So I knew ahead of time that I was going to use bulbs, and bought a warranty to reduce my out of pocket costs. 600-78=522.

Some will not use the bulb in 3 years but either way I was going to claim those 2 bulbs.

Thats why I like the MACK warranty, it should be called insurance, because it protects your investment. If they can not fix it or replace it, you could have gotten a new model, even years later. This from a company that has been around for 30 years. Its also transferable, which is a positive for resale. And for the price, you will not find a better more flexible consideration for your hard earned dollar.

As with any contract you should read it and research and find the comments from people that have had to use it and the pros and cons.

IF your willing to spend 1 dollar for content, why wouldn't you want to spend 1/100th of that per year to protect your display. I hope you do not consider this a throw away consumer electronics device, I want to keep it going 10 or more years like my CRT's

    Nice review on Amazon:

Buy Square Trade if you want a warranty. You are the only one recommending this "Mack" warranty, and I'm not sure why.

Can anyone give me the distance between the mounting holes? My dad bought one and I'm supposed to help him hang it so I need to buy a bracket ahead of time (traveling to hang it during thanksgiving)...thanks!

    "sucks a lot of power"

Average power for the TC-P46U is 170W. I don't think that is much higher than an equivalently sized LCD.

I went to Samsung's website for power numbers on their 46B6xx series LCDs, but could only find a mention of power consumption in the manual. It stated "For the power supply and Power Consumption, refer to the label attached to the product." It seems somewhat convenient to not list this on their website like Panasonic does.

I did find power measurements on CNET.
Panasonic TC-P46G10 = 168.78W (not far from what Panasonic lists).
    Samsung LN46B650 = 174.10W.
    Sony 46W5100 = 169.87W

According to CNETs measurement, the newer Panasonic Plasmas are pretty efficient when compared to the popular Samsung and Sony 46" LCDs.

    EDIT (linky)

So i'm having issues with this sharp now too. When i'm switching between the HD signal and SD signal on my cable box runing through HDMI, it picks up the change from 1080i to 480p but losses all the "red" color i think, everything goes a very wierd greenish tone. It is only fixed if i unplug the HDMI and replug it back in. I was not seeing this issue before the Firmware update, anyone else have something like this? i think i will be contacting walmart to exchange or return before the 30 days is up
