I have the NAS version of this drive and the case is very attractive and stays very cool. I'd assume that this version would run cool as well. This line has very nice build quality.

Thanks OP, repped. I've been looking for a 1-1.5TB backup drive and was really hoping to find another Iomega to match the one I already have. In for 1, scheduled to arrive by the 10th.

Note that tech support service is via chat - phone tech support is only free for what they consider "professional grade" products (like the Home Meda Network Drive version of this drive).

Should I be seeing the Bing CB logo in my cart? I know some sites show it & some don't. I did see the Bing CB banner on Dell's site after going through the Bing link.

Hey...You won't see the Bing Logo anywhere when you are perusing Dell's site.

Do this:

>Go to: www.bing.com
>Enter: Dell Desktop > enter
>At the top of the Page Under All Results, You will See the results for Dell Desktop, Click To the Right, where you see the $Bing Cashback > enter
>Next Screen will be: Your purchase during this visit to Dell.com Home & Home Office Store will earn you 5% Cashback, enter your e-mail information, hit enter..and it will take you to Dell Home page.
>Then, you will want to do a a Search under Accessories for the Part #A3194904, Name of it, or Simply look for the Daily Deal to the Right, when you are on the Accessories Main Page.
>Then proceed with the check out process as normally would, and your Bing Pending Information should appear in your e-mail account w/in a few minutes to a few days!

Do you have a Hotmail or Live account? You will need one!

Hope that helps!

Anyone know what's inside this thing? I'm assuming (hoping?) that the 8MB buffer is left over from an older, smaller model. Are there even any 1TB drives that have only 8MB cache?

If you have adblock, it will block the Dell cashback links. Turn it off and repeat a search for Dell and it will show up under the sponsored results at the top.

Thanks for the details. I have used Bing CB before, but with mixed results, so I'm always a little nervous that it won't go through, especially if I don't see the Bing logo at checkout (looks like only some sites display it). I did follow the steps you listed above, so I think I'm good (took screen shots just in case, though).

My drive already shipped. I'm so glad I didn't wait for the 1.5TB WD deal (orders from almost two weeks ago have estimated delivery dates of 11/14-11/30) since I need this to back up a drive I'm RMAing. Thanks again, OP.

I got in on this last night before I went to bed. Thanks so much! Hopefully it will work with the AirPort Extreme I also ordered, and give me a better setup at a slightly lower price than the Time Capsule. Thumbs up and repped.

EDIT: Nooooo! Now they say it's OOS! > They're offering me the 1.5T for $46 more. BUT the Dell site still lists the drive for sale (at the regular price).

Cool, my drive's already out for delivery and that's with the free shipping. I'm sure it helped that it shipped out of IN and I'm in MI. Guess I get to back up several hundred GB of data this weekend - fun!

My Bing CB's not showing up yet, but I'll give it a couple of days before contacting them.

Aw man, that sucks. They probably allocated a certain # for the sale and said OOS when they sold that number. Shady when they do have them in stock and would be more than willing to send one out to you at full price.

Wonder if they'll honor the price if I call and point this out. Probably not, but still....PLUS, if I follow their link to get the 1.5T, I won't get the BCB. > AND Amazon has the 1.5 for $130, anyway.

EDIT: Went with a LaCie from Amazon that includes a year of online backup for about $10 more than this would have been from Dell. Oh, well.
