    Lenovo S12 Netbook with NVIDIA ION - Windows 7 HP, Intel 1.6GHz, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 6 Cell, 12.1" $449 + Free Shipping.
    Hello all,

    I received my weekly email from Lenovo's IBM Sharholder program this morning and it contains the best offers I have seen in several weeks.
    They are promoting the new S12 Netbook with the ION chipset for just $449.

    They are also providing a solid offer on the T400s which they promote as the thinnest (0.83"), lightest (starting at 3.9 lbs) T Series ever.

    The email states there are only 400 available for each of the S12 and T400s.

    Here are the S12 details:

    Lenovo.com List Price $649
    Shareholder Price: $449 after coupon

    Go to www.lenovo.com/spp;
    You will need to create an account...so click on the "Create Account" link and follow the instructions......a password is mailed to you within a minute or two (in my experience);
    Login and go to the S12 Series page and then click the IdeaPad S12 line;
    Add 29595FU to your cart
    Apply coupon USXSPPS125FU to arrive at the $449 price.

    Specs:
    - Intel ATOM Processor N270 ( 1.60GHz)
    - Windows 7 Home Premium
    - NVIDIA ION with Full HD video and HDMI
    - 12.1 " Display
    - 2 GB RAM
    - 250GB HDD
    - 6 Cell Battery
    - 2.87 lbs.

    Here are the T400s details:

    Lenovo.com List Price $1745
    Shareholder Price: $1099 after coupon

    Website access instructions same as above
    Go to T Series Page and select T400s
    Select the first model shown (list price of $1745)
    Once in the shopping cart apply coupon USXSPPT400S
    This seems to drive a further discount of $260 above and beyond the normal Shareholder price.

    Specs:
    - Intel Core 2 Duo SP9400 (2.4GHz)
    - Windows 7 Pro
    - 14.1 " LED Display
    - 2 GB RAM
    - DVD Burner

    This can and should be used by you to post updated deal information.
    Be sure to read this because it may contain answers to your questions!
    Everyone, please keep in mind this uses Nvidia Ion. THAT is the reason it's the price it is, there are comparable netbooks without the Ion for $100-$150 cheaper, we know that. The reason you would buy this one is for the Nvidia Ion. If you don't know that, move on to another netbook.

    Although the GPU is ion based, CPU is still atom-based, and therefore, handling HD Flash video with this combo is questionable (subjected to test after adobe update).

    More info on the Nvidia Ion http://www.nvidia.com/object/sff_ion.html

    Quote :
    NVIDIA® ION™ graphics processor, in MCP79, DirectX 10,
    PureVideo® HD technology, Full HD decode (1080i/p), uses main memory,
    one VGA DB-15 connector, one HDMI connector, HDCP-compliant
    http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/ipbook.pdf

    Netbooks with atom can not yet do flash video HD decoding (the CPU can't handle it), but adobe has promised ION hardware accelerated decoding in one of the next flash updates (10.1 I belive).

    update - 11-18-2009 - Flash player 10.1 BETA is here! Supports this netbook's video card!

    What do you mean by bad?
    I always thought the anti-glare displays were pretty nifty.

    Hello there....not sure I follow, but I have provided some additional information from their website below.

    12.1" WXGA, VibrantView (glossy), LED backlight

    I have purchased several IBM and now Lenovo boxes and in fact purchased a netbook for my little girl a couple months back.....these are very good quality products IMHO.

    I have always found their PSREF spec sheets very helpful. You can goolgle PSREF or use the enclosed link......I do not think you will be disappointed with this netbook.
    Hope this helps.

    I would have bought this S12 if I hadn't just bought the Y450 posted recently. Great price on what has been reviewed as a pretty darn good machine.

    It's much slower than a core 2 duo but much more power efficient, so much longer battery life.
