100,000 Reward Miles When You Spend $2,000 in 3 Months With British Airways Signature Visa
I ran across this as I was looking for recent credit card information. It appears that Chase will be offering 100,000 miles to users who spend $2,000 in the first 3 months.
    *Applications are live now*

    Hope this helps someone.

If you're not sure you'll be spending $2k in 3 months, do this:

Buy $2000 worth of US currency direct from the US Mint for face value and free shipping

    Go here: link [usmint.gov]
Buy $2k worth of $1 coins with your new card ($500 limit for each president)
Deposit the coins, pay off your card, and enjoy the miles. TN

**The US Mint has been sending out letters on recent purchases due to recent usage since it has gotten back to them that most people are buying the coins as a way to gain points/mileage. Just be careful on the purchases.**

    ------------
Added directly from USMint website: The purchase of $1 coins under the Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Program is a cash equivalent or cash-like transaction. Ordinarily, such purchases are not eligible for credit card rewards, cash-back, cash rebate, and similar programs. Check with your card issuer for its terms and conditions. - Purchases from the mint have ALWAYS been cash equivalent purchases.

Added directly from credit card link above: You do not earn BA Miles on balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like charges such as travelers checks, foreign currency, and money orders, any checks that are used to access your account, ...

Possible Gotcha in deal: From terms of card application: "You will first be considered for a Visa Signature card. If you do not qualify for that product, you will automatically be considered for a Visa Platinum card, which has different fees, benefits, and credit availability."
    ===============

If you are planning to apply, get approved and then cancel the card to avoid the $75 annual fee, remember that cancellation has negative impact on credit history. However, canceling newer credit cards has lesser negative impact than canceling an older card (is this correct grammar, less negative )

Money 100,000 Reward Miles When You Spend $2,000 in 3 Months With British Airways Signature Visa

First post so be easy guys.

This is a British Airways Signature Visa Card.

According to an article on Bloomberg today:

"JPMorgan Chase & Co., the biggest credit-card lender, and British Airways Plc will offer new customers 100,000 airline miles as the battle for affluent spenders intensifies.

The miles, worth a round-trip transatlantic flight, will go to people who spend $2,000 on the co-branded British Airways Signature Visa cards within the first three months, according to a statement.

The promotion is scheduled to start tomorrow for U.S. British Airways Executive Club members and Nov. 16 for nonmembers."

Here is the link to the article on Bloomberg:
    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/new...vA4w&pos=7

There is a $75 annual fee that may or may not be possible to get waived for the first year.

I could not find any more details on the offer but I'm sure more will be available tomorrow when the offer begins.

The travel experts at FlyerTalk seem to agree that this is a fabulous deal, here [flyertalk.com] is a large thread that discusses it at length. Keep in mind that British Airways miles don't necessarily have to be used for travel on just British Airways as they have several airline travel partners, for example with these 100K BA miles can be used for four free coach roundtrips in the continental USA on American Airlines - all of this for $75 (the price of the card's annual fee).

it sounds too good to be true
100000 miles is good enough for a business class ticket which should cost around $4000+
$2000 in 3 months? very easily done by most peopleAfter reading the article - it must be a mistake. For spending $30K a year you only get a companion ticket while spending $2000 and get a 100K miles.
Maybe it is $20,000 for the first 3 months - which is still a great deal for 100K miles.
Will check out for sure. Will get wife and kids (12 and 7 LOL) to apply for the cards. We will take a first class trip to Europe

This sounds insane. Looking for an actual link to the offer, but still doesnt look like it's active yet. Hope it's true. Even with the taxes, can practically fly to Hong Kong for hardly anything.

I read the entire thread at flyertalk (as of early this morning) and didn't see anyone confirm yet that it old be used for four free coach roundtrips within the US. Has anything new been added to confirm this? If so then it is looking brighter for me. Four flights is definitely worth a credit pull for me.

    Thanks

    i think 100K reward miles = 50K BA miles...based on "The miles, worth a round-trip transatlantic flight"

If you check BA site, for roundtrip US-UK-US flight you just need 50K BA miles in economy...

Take a look at Post #117 in the FlyerTalk thread , it includes the link to the BA award chart (be sure to click on North America) showing that a domestic roundtrip is indeed only 25K BA miles, thus four free coach roundtrips within North America for 100K BA miles.

Is there a fuel surcharge or any taxes when using these points for four free domestic roundtrips?

Wow - this is a great deal. Just applied. I'm taking the family to Florida next Spring, so the 4 round trips on American will come in very handy.
