Wow - this is a great deal. Just applied. I'm taking the family to Florida next Spring, so the 4 round trips on American will come in very handy.

Good luck getting 4 round trip tickets on AA in Spring time @ 25K miles. Even you can get them, you be surprised how they route you and the departure/arrival time.

    i think 100K reward miles = 50K BA miles...based on "The miles, worth a round-trip transatlantic flight"

If you check BA site, for roundtrip US-UK-US flight you just need 50K BA miles in economy...
The page says "Earn 2 transatlantic rewards flights". You get 50,000 miles when you first use the card, and 50,000 miles when you spend $2,000 in the first three months. 100,000 miles --> 2 transatlantic reward flights.
Even when you don't plan to spend $2,000 it's worth signing up, if you plan to travel internationally and are flexible with your travel dates. I was planning a trip to HK and Japan next year, and when this deal popped up, I jumped on it. Even with taxes, fuel surcharges and annual card fee this will probably save some money. I've read on flyertalk that stopovers are possible, too?

For this card in particular I would say probably above 700

Yes make sure you book by phone. Usually stopovers of less than 24 hours are permitted. What I've done it take a later flight out where I land Midday somewhere (Sydney, Australia my last trip) and then the next flight out is 23 hours or so from when I land (I do this on purpose) so I get a day in a different city.

edit: The way it worked on my last trip is I booked a trip from DFW--> Brisbane, Australia. Well the flights are DFW--> LAX-->Sydney Australia -->Brisbane. So basically I chose flights to/from Brisbane which forced me to have a 20-23 hr stopover in Sydney so i could see the city.

Applied. My usual monthly credit card bill is around $1,500, so this is definitely worth it for me.

Merge some... for goodness sake there are only 2 or 3 worth keeping, tops. Merge newer accounts into your older accounts and you'll keep combined credit lines and account history on the oldest cards.

noticed comments in flyertalk, that if you had applied for a Chase sapphire card within the last 6 months (received/not received), you wont be eligible. Is that true?

Call the number on the back of the card. You can probably merge the freedom and sapphire together.

Sometimes they don't allow you to merge store branded cards with non-store branded cards but you could definitely merge the 2 sony cards together.

Here is a number for chase customer service- 800-945-2006 if you don't have your cards with you. They can see everything with your social. Just remember the account you merge into stays open so generally it is not a good idea to merge an old account into a new one but rather to merge a new account into an old one. the card merged into an existing card will show as closed per customer request on your credit report but the available credit line will be transferred over to the card you keep (example a 3k card and a 7k card would leave you one card with a 10k limit)

Chase calls it a "credit line consolidation"
