I have BA Signature card now for over 10 years. Not the best card to earn BA miles but recently they made change to their miles earning rules. You get to earn 1.25 mile for every dollar you spend. I still prefer to use my AMEX Starwood to earn my BA miles. Every year BA has promotion where you can transfer Starwood points to get 33% bonus miles on top of the default transfer promotion of 20,000 Starwood points = 25,000 BA miles. So, by transfering 40K Starwood points you get around 80K+ BA miles. Almost good enough for a Free round-trip ticket to India. But they screw you with surcharges and taxes. I pay around $400-$500 on taxes and surcharges. It's worth it only if you can plan your India trips way early and go during peak travel time when prices to India are over $1500.

But, this promotion is way cool. I am going to make my wife apply for it so we can get the bonus 100K added to our Family Account. Last year around Black Friday BA ran a promotion where you got 2nd roundtrip ticket free when you use miles. So, I got two tickets to Chennai for just 90K miles during this Summer even though I paid $900 in fees and taxes.

Is Chennai in India? $900 in fees and taxes is too expensive! So if I want to spend out 180k miles for two tickets to Chennai, do I need to pay $1,800 in taxes and fees?

I guess, he means 900 for both the tickets. Still not a great deal. Is it possible to use these points to travel between Dallas and Hyderabad.

If it not possible to use travel to India, what are the other options to make use of these points.
Do we need to have high credit score to get the approval?

    For Visa Signature, most likely.

I applied for the card yesterday because I'm absolutely sure that it's legit, there's no mention whatsoever of Nov 16 on the active link [mychasecreditcards.com] to apply for the card.

I got denied for that United 50k AMEX deal because apparently there's a limit of how many AMEX cards you can have (I had 3 credit and 1 charge card). I wonder if it's the same for Visa Signature cards.

I think 100,000 miles is worth one transatlantic round trip. That is what it looks like in bloomberg news link (very first link in this thread).

Also, does anybody know about family BA Executive Club membership? Does this mean if 3 family members apply for credit card, 300,000 miles will be added into one Family Executive Membership account and that these miles can be used by 4th or 5th family member in this membership? Please advise! Thank You.

I tried to redeem my miles and started the booking process for SFO to Tokyo. I currently have 9,000 miles. I chose my flights to Tokyo and back to SFO. When I continued, it says that I'm 51,000 miles short. I conclude that it's 60,000 for the round trip ticket.

When I try to book a regular ticket SFO to London round trip, it tells me that the total fees, taxes and surcharges amount to ~ $166. I guess this is the same amount you'd have to pay when you redeem your miles.

How good is the availability of award tickets on BA ? Knowing BA, I have a feeling that with this promo
they will limit the availability to 2 seats/flight/day to India from the US
