The Kev Master runs everything via HDMI for video only and then runs a digital cable for the audio only, so in this instance using a HDMI switch would be fine.

What a speaker can HANDLE and how much it needs to run it well are two completely different things. Rasterman was spot on and your argument makes no sense. Just to give one example, the Bose 901's are known for having outrageous power handling capabilities, some being run with 1000wpc amps, and can easily handle something in the 500w range... Yet most people who own them don't have that sort of gear and run them just fine on 100w. I knew a fellow in college who had 901's and could produce a staggering amount of clean sound powering them from a mundane 75wpc stereo receiver (fairly powerful for the time, but 'mundane' in today's context). Perhaps you need to be more concerned with the MINIMUM amplifier power required to run speakers, not the maximum. Furthermore, the sensitivity and the ohm rating needs to be taken into account... The Klipschorn, for instance, is rated at 100w maximum (400w peak), but as an 8ohm speaker with a sensitivity well over 100dB can be driven easily, and quite loudly, by a 30wpc stereo receiver. Ask me how I know this. Last edited by drdiaboloco; 11-06-2009 at 01:36 PM.. |

I am replacing a 5 year old onkyo... with a 7.1 setup, i never liked the loudness from it.. Maybe it was the speakers? or, maybe it was the reciever? Would this pioneer be better than the onkyo with 6 hdmi ... I am looking at these 3 Onkyo HT-RC160 Onkyo TX-SR607 and this pioneer? |

I don't give a flying phuck if you can drive 801's (not bose crap, B&W) with an ipod or a transistor radio. It sure as hell won't sound the same as driving them with a Classe amp. The context was amps and pre-outs ---- MAXIMUM POWER----- READ MY PREVIOUS POSTS. The one post you single out was a response to someone with juvenile understanding of high fidelity. But you and I have gone around before and I will not reply to any of your posts in the future.

Is anybody else worried about the bad reviews of antonline on resellerratings.com? Or am I the only one?

I ordered one the 1080p upconversion is supposed to better than most recievers... It comes with an mp3 dock and has a GUI as well . The onkyo's had more HDMI's but none of the other features!

having trouble finding this information, but can someone with the receiver specify how much lip sync error (milliseconds) can this receiver be adjusted for? is it for 100 ms only or 200ms?

I've been doing some self-internet research for a couple weeks and just missed the last deal on these. I looked at a lot of different sites and this 1019 was CNET's editor pick of the year on MID range receivers, which is what i'm looking for. I don't think you can find the bells and whistles for this money with any other product. I heard too many "you could fry an egg on my onkyo" on several threads which is why i decided on the Pioneer. I was actually going to wait for the 919 to go on sale and get in stock, but had to buy this today with the slick deal presented. |
