Does anyone have any recommendations for GPS? I need one that will be used every day for work and there are SO MANY to choose from!

Good price. Next lowest I found was BJ's @ $229.99 plus shipping and tax. I was thinking about the 765t from Newegg for $199 (I think it's higher now), but I don't really need Bluetooth on a GPS and don't want to mess around with a refurb.
Interesting that Costco is selling the 285W for the same price. MSN traffic is going offline in about 2 years and the 285W doesn't have lane/junction assist. Can anyone confirm whether the 755 deal is available in-store? Last edited by phillylex; 11-07-2009 at 07:22 AM.. |

Anyone have any thoughts on the 755T at $200 from Costco versus the 265WT at $191 from Amazon? It looks like BlueTooth on the 265WT vs MP3 on the 755T?

The GPS is $238 at Amazon with free shipping and no tax for most. I love Garmins, but there seem to be a good deal of complaints about this model and the lane guidance and junction view features. The problem is they have few intersections programmed in which makes it not very handy. You are probably better off to keep your eyes up off the GPS and look at the actual road signs .Dennis |

2) Decide what features you have to have and which and worthless to you. Most folks do not need a GPS that has bluetooth, plays music, and probably do not need the (in most places) weak traffic features. If you don't need the fancy features, then a factory refurb Garmin 255 can be had for $100 from TigerDirect or the "widescreen" (another feature of dubious value) 255w is $130 from TD or Amazon. If you do need BT or traffic then the price goes up for a model like the 265 or 265w. If you drive where the traffic and lane guidance are well supported, then a model like this 755 might be a better choice, but for more than 2x the cost of the 255... I am a big fan of Garmin "factory remanufactured" GPS units. You save money, get the same warranty, and get a free map update (if your GPS has older maps on it) - just like buying a "new" GPS from Garmin. Dennis |

The 755 can store routes, has the lane guidance feature, 3d building view, destination sort (could be really handy for a delivery person), the locate feature (handy if you often lose your car), and plays MP3s with FM transmitter and aux out jack. The 265 or 265w has BT but none of the above features. the 265wt (new) was $170 or so from Amazon the other day but as you noted is now $191, If you can live w/o the widescreen the 265t is $172 (new) or $151 (refurb). A refurb 265wt is $175. Don't need the BT then you can get the 255 for $100 or the 255w for $130 (refurbs). Dennis |

Does any one know that I can purchase this unit in store with this ad? Because I don't like to purchase online!

Just called the Livonia, MI location; they said this isn't sold in stores.
Does anyone have any experience with the FM Transmitter? I would like to buy this as a gift for my grandfather, but he has difficulty hearing the little GPS speakers, so transmitting through the car's radio would be great if it works, but some reviews state that it doesn't work so well. http://gpsmagazine.com/2009/01/ga...review.php |
