    Restaurant.com 80% off: $25 Gift Certificates $2 or $3, $10 Gift Certificates $0.80

Restaurant.com has a new 80% off code ENTREE available. The $25 gift certificates are normally $10 or $15 (depending on restaurant), but are $2 or $3 with the code. They also sell $10 certificates for select restaurants for $4, making them 80 cents each with the code. Thanks brisar

Note: Be sure to check restrictions for the certificates before you purchase, as they vary among different venues.

Need to include the BIG CATCH. These certificates are more like coupons, not gift cards. You can't use them to buy food, but you can use them to buy more or better food. Not good for gifts.
I find these only to be good if you want to buy more food than normal, have a larger party, or want to buy the most expensive items on the menu.

I don't think it's really a catch. You can just think of it as a big coupon that you would use anyways. I've found that I've eaten more food, for less amount of money spent. Considering you go to a pizza place, spend $35, - $25 cert / 3 people you go with ~$4-5 out the door for $35 worth of food.

Thanks op, been waiting for the 80% it's been at 70% for a while.

I just figured it out for a local place
    $150 (Minimum order) + 18% ($27 tip) - $75 (coupon usage) + $30 (coupon purchase) = $132 = $18 savings

So I guess I need to go order... 30 spider rolls of sushi & two drinks or three sushi boats, & two drinks to spend $150... Guess I'd get 4 spider rolls free, or 3 spider rolls and two drinks for that $18 "savings".

Then again... this is pre coupon mentioned in first post ;-)

Thanks for the post! I love getting these coupons early when there are still a bunch of great restaurants.

Businesses profit off this because food cost is typically 1/3 of the selling price. Even if they give you someting buy one get one free they should clear something. The idea is that you go try their food for a marginal profit, and hopefully come back and pay retail sometime.

I go to a local Mexican place in Orlando call Maria Bonita's. Last time I used one of these coupons the bill came to the table and had the gratuity added. The bill said it was at 10% but it calculated out to 18%. I don't think the register would be able to get this wrong but believe they are manipulating the % shown. It was the restaurant manager also that served us that night.

As far as I browse in my local list, gratuity is almost always 18%. Never saw 10%. May be that restaurant put intentional mistake in the listing. :-(

That is only true if you wouldn't leave a tip normally. It would be more like a savings of $40 if you would leave a 15% tip. These are only a good deal if you would eat there anyways and spend the money on a meal anyways. Then they are great. Because if I can get a $150 meal with tip for only $108 (with coupon), that is not a bad deal.
