It might be over rated, and is certainly overpriced, but it was included. I never would have bought this printer for that price without the duplexer. I'll use it, but not very often.

I received an email from Dell today stating:

The payment issue with your Dell order has been resolved - your order is being processed with an estimated delivery date of 01/05/2010

I kind of expect my next email to state the duplexer was canceled. BTW, my printer is still showing as "in production"

Whether you think a duplexer is useful or not is your opinion. When I print at work on a laser printer I actually do double sided printing a lot but that's beside the point. Dell is notorious for horrible customer service and now they're most certainly engaged in a bait & switch deal. The duplexer is worth $150 and no company has the right to tell you it's in their offer, ship you half the order, and then say, "you know what, I think we just won't send you the rest of the order."

I really encourage everyone to request a return from Dell and insist they send you a new box with a shipping label (because by now you probably already threw away that huge box). If they refuse, try to get your CC company to issue a chargeback against them. Use your order (printouts or screenshots), the screenshot I posted, etc... as proof on your end that they did not follow through with their part of the deal and that you don't trust them enough after all this to refund your return shipping costs.

The only reason why I was going to order this printer is because it had a duplexer. I have a dell 3100cn now and the duplexer alone for that off of ebay is $180.00. I was going to buy the duplexer awhile ago but it was too expensive. I was getting ready to get this printer but hesitated. I was getting ready to sell my old one. I am glad I didnt. This is such a scam.

Hmm... The CSR at Dell contacted manufacturing and replied to me with the following:

"We were advised that the estimated arrival for this item is by close of business on November 30, 2009."

So it looks like they don't have plans to cancel the duplexer from my order. I'll believe it when I receive it but it's pretty lame that some people got lucky with this while others didn't.

Before I go crazy trying to get this deal, why is this such a great deal? The footprint of this thing is tremendous and it is not an all-in-one. Can someone fill me in?

You would want this printer because the toners are super cheap. You can get the whole set for around $80 from ebay. Most color laser printers have toners that cost $400+ to change toners.

This printer also prints fast as heck. And not having to take out the paper and put it back in reverse to get double-sided printing is pretty awesome as well. Trust me when you receive this printer you will see that it isn't a cheap throw-away printer like the others you see out there. And with cheap toner cartridges this printer/duplexer combo is a steal @ $209.

Thank you guys. I just got off the phone with the rep I was working with. They are sending me the printer and duplexer for the same price I ordered and 1 day shipping for free. The printer is supposed to ship on or before 12/2. The duplexer is supposed to ship on or before 12/22.

It seems the printers of this quality easily go for twice this price. Am I right?

My printer got moved to 12/2/2009 and my duplexer got cancelled.

Neither of my items has been canceled, yet, but both are still showing as 'in production'. Very frustrating. I bought something from a different company yesterday (friday) afternoon, and 2 hours later I had my tracking number! I honestly don't see how Dell stays in business

I'm in a similar situation. My order shows the printer bundled with the duplexer. It says "in production". My estimated delivery date remains as mid December.

I don't mind waiting for a very good deal. If I get this printer with duplexer for $209 in mid December, I'll be very pleased with this purchase.

My concern is that Dell ships the printer and cancels the duplexer. If that happened, it'd be awful.

Wow, my status has been updated. Still showing in production, but now the printer is pushed back yet another week. It's now 12/02 for delivery

Edit: I just selected one, at full price, to see what it said, and it shows Preliminary Ship Date 11/24/09

How can that be? Dell, you really suck
