Thanks to the guy who posted the the following procedure but it is YMMV of course since it did not work for me. The rep told me that the printer is already price matched at the 149.98$ price.

I just price matched with the Office depot for 149.99 shipped ... did 2 times and both work... BUT As usual YMMV
so I am getting like this..

Steps to follow:

Call staples.
Press 1 to ready to order.
then give your phone number to open them your order if you are regular online purchaser from Staples.com
then ask rep to order by the item number Staples Item 768165.
Rep will tell you price is 199.98 so ask him/her to price match to office depot (Office depot item number : 798170) which is for 149.99
Then give 20$ code "63412" or give 30 off 150$ ( If you have )
Then give him/her the coupon : " 70526: which is for the instant saving for Brother printer.
So now total will be 149.99 - 30$/ 20$ - 50 $ Instant on brother- 50$ for Trade In your old Printer + tax = around 26 to 30 $ for Printer!

By the time I am writing this my wife did order 3rd one with the success... and I am on phone for 4th one and bingo.....
I got it.... total 4 for everybody in family ..
one for me .. one for my mom, one for my bro, and one for my In laws.

I had almost decided on buying it when I read your Post.

I never even thought that it wouldn't have Network capabilities. No go for me

You don't need a network-ready printer if you connect it to a networked computer. That's what I've always done. Works great. So, from any of the several computers in our house, I can print to my wife's laser. Her computer is always on. I guess that's the only possible drawback: the computer you connect to has to be on.

FYI a brother machine with network connection usually allows network printing/scanning/fax send/fax receive, this is more than you can do with printer sharing through machine others have mentioned in this thread. just my 2 cents

Good point. Apparently, Vista Business and Ultimate have this capability. Not so with my Vista Premium though.
