Bank America Opt Out of overdrawing account
Was in BofA yesterday with CSR on unrelated issue and she said she'd like to offer to set me up to opt out of overdrawing account. She states that instead of letting you overdraw your account and get hit with the charges, the transaction would just be denied for insufficient funds.
Makes sense to me. Should have had this all along. Thought might save some other folks the hassle of overdrawing accounts.
She stated that at some point in future everyone would be automatically opted out,
but for now, you can tell them you want this.
Only posted because, you dont have to wait for them to opt you out and to my knowledge they are only, at least only large bank that is doing this. Sure the banks the bansters need a bashing , but this was a good idea.
I believe this only applies to Debit Cards and ATM only cards. Not checking.
Here's more information from fellow forum member.

this is a hot deal come on now. aside form that, you make false "statements", that are actually silly assumptions, ( the only bank,. only large bank) HUH? Between businesses and personal accounts, i have accounts in 10 different banks, 3 large and 7 smaller, and they are all doing this. that is just a small sample. most other banks are doing this as well, but since its a cash-generating strategy for them, they do not advertise it, but you ask, and receive. PNC is doing it, chase, TD bank, Sovereign / Banco Santander, Valley National, and many others.
