Milwaukee M18 cordless tool FREE with mail-in rebate when you purchase 2 extended batteries
Valid July 1st through September 30th, 2010
Get a free M18 bare tool when you buy two (2) M18 XC high capacity lithium-ion batteries from a Milwaukee authorized dealer. [milwaukeetool.com]
Choices of free tools are:
- M18 Cordless SAWZALL® Recip Saw (2620-20) Kick-ass!
- M18 Cordless One-Handed HACKZALL® Recip Saw (2625-20) My choice!
- M18 Cordless 1/4" Hex Compact Impact Driver (2650-20) Part of the kit I purchased 2 weeks ago. It's quite nice and drives screws and lag bolts easier and faster than the drill that's part of the kit I bought, which in itself is darn powerful! I got the 550ft/lbs torque hammerdrill.
- M18 Cordless 4-1/2" Cut-off/Grinder (2680-20) This would come in real handy in a pinch. This will be my second free tool after purchase of 4 batteries.
- M18 AC/DC Wall & Vehicle Charger (2710-20) The normal charger is sweet and charges in an hour or less for the extended XC batteries, but this one can charge from your cigarette lighter in your vehicle, truely making this M18 cordless system portable.
Amazon [amazon.com] has these batteries for only $69 ea as of today 7/15/10 and fluctuates daily up to $76 each. Not a bad price compared to other e-tailers or local hardware and big box home improvement stores. And I contacted Milwaukee customer service and was told Amazon is one of their distributers, so I went this route to thwart any confusion on the rebate end of things. Disclaimer: 3 battery maximum per Amazon member. I just opened another Amazon account to get the 4th battery as I have plans for getting 2 free tools.
Ebay is cheap with Bing cashback, but you had better be prepared to prove the Ebay seller is a Milwaukee authorized dealer for this rebate to work! Home Depot sells these batteries for $119 ea all day long, plus shipping. Even if HD has Bing CB, it can't touch Amazon's price. Just use them and save yourself a headache "slickdealin' your life away...
I stumbled upon this deal when I went to register my new Milwaukee M18 tools online the other day. I had just purchased the M18 Hackzall (one handed reciprocating saw/Sawzall) from Amazon for the cheapest I could find at $199 total. I sent that back (unused) and opted for this rebate deal instead. I already have 2 M18 chargers and a hammerdrill, impact driver and their circular saw that I bought "tool only" and not part of a kit or batteries.
So for less than $150 I will have the hackzall with TWO batteries for less than the kit from amazon for the $199. I'll add an extra Milwaukee bag for $20 all day long and still come out on top...and with an extra battery! And like I said, I already have 2 chargers.
So if you're thinking it's time for new cordless tools, then this might be a system to look into. What I like nearly as much as the brand name is the batteries have an on-board remaining charge meter which consists of 4 led's at the press of a button. No more guessing how much charge is left over. This is was the deal-winner between the MIlwaukee M18, Makita and the comperable Hitachi Li-ion systems.
I'm quite pleased with my purchase and it kicks the living tar out of my old Craftsman 19.2 EX nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cad) system whose batteries died. For me it made no sense to get another Craftsman battery and opted for real power instead.
Please be nice as this is my first Slickdeal. And if you do your research, you'll find this to be a very slick deal! Also, while you're at it, browse through Milwaukee's M18 [milwaukeetool.com] tool section for stats. It's 3 pages long.
Added Saturday morning, July 17th:
WHOO HOO! FRONT PAGE!
wow folks, looks like we bought amazon out. WARNING, don't purchase from their 2nd party sellers. i'm not sure if Milwaukee considers them authorized to sell, even if it's THROUGH Amazon! i'd wait for these to come back in-stock again through Amazon or find a better deal elsewhere. please make sure they are an authorized seller. i'm certain even some sellers on Ebay lie about being authorized. be forewarned... and remember, you've got until September 30th to get in on this deal, so don't sweat the small stuff.
another warning, READ sales pages on every site that sells this closely to be certain you're not viewing a page that's selling a factory refurbished product. i'm not certain if refurbs qualify for the rebate and i'm thinking they're closed on weekends so i cannot call to confirm otherwise.
Amazon is good about getting product back in-stock. i believe you can still add the batteries to your cart at the price of $69 and wait for them to get back in-stock and ship for that price. it's listed to the right in the box that says "more buying choices" and click on amazon.com.
in fact, i did just that, i added it to my cart and got all the way to the place your order screen (for the same $69). it's saying expected delivery date to be aug 9 - aug 17th. but it will most likely ship sooner than that when they replenish their supply.
Update Saturday afternoon:
yep, Amazon raised their price to $79.04. Still not a bad deal on batteries compared to all other sellers, but when they come back in stock, i'll be checking and updating the price they offer. We've all got until September 30th so those that didn't get in on the sweet price of $69, there is still time and hope. Check back in often and i'll be bumpin' this thread every now and again.
Update, Sunday morning the 25th:
amazon has these back in stock, but they're keeping the price at $79.04.
hopefully they bring it back down in price just a wee bit. even at just under $80 each, this is still a badass deal, or more appropriately, a slickdeal.
update August 7th:
amazon has these going for $74.74 ea.
update sunday, august 15th
price went back up by 26 cents each for a total of $75 each.
tuesday, august 17
$79.44 ughh. this makes the 3rd party sellers cheaper. but DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! they are not authorized dealers AFAIK.
wednesday 18th
$75 even.
wednesday, september 1st
ick, back up to $79.44
