Sears Craftsman Club monthly sale - ongoing thread
For one week each month [lately it's been each entire month], Sears has a "secret" sale for members of its Craftsman Club [craftsman.com].
This thread will announce the dates of each monthly sale and discuss any "hot" deals there might be. See the Wikipost and the next post for the latest info. Also check the latest posts (on the last page) for discussion about the current club sale.
The sales occur on random weeks, normally from a Sunday to the following Saturday.
Sears prints a large flyer (~ 20-40 pages) listing items on sale. For example, the January 2008 sale included several mini pliers for $4 (normally $10), and 20% off hand boxes and portable chests.
The flyers are mailed out to members not too long prior to the sale, and also posted to a members-only page [craftsman.com] on the Craftsman web site.
In July 2008, Sears began publishing four different regional versions of the sale flyer — US north, US south, CA north, CA south.
Craftsman Club sale items are priced for in-store purchase only. However, there are a few "online only" deals available via the following link.
What is the Craftsman Club?
The Craftsman Club is a free program offered by Sears, essentially "yet another mailing list" to get you to buy more tools and garden equipment.
In addition to the monthly flyers, you'll receive occasional sales announcements via e-mail. Plus, you can pick up a free copy of the Craftsman calendar (containing several coupons) at the store. The calendar is also viewable online, but does not include the coupons.
Club members will be "the first to hear about new Craftsman tools and innovations" and "receive advanced notice on big sales."
The web site includes an extensive array of "how-to" articles.
You'll also receive a membership card (credit card style with mag-stripe) that you can use to get the club discounts. They'll mail the card to you about 3–4 weeks after you sign up,
Originally, club members would get a 10% discount on all Craftsman brand tools all the time. Unfortunately, that perk went away.
How do I join?
Go to Craftsman.com [craftsman.com] and click on the link under "SIGN UP." You'll be asked for your name, address, e-mail, and phone.
You can also fill out an application form, available in the tools department at most Sears stores.
>>> Tip: Use a phone number you'll remember, because if you ever forget to bring your membership card a cashier can verify your membership (and thus give you the discounts) using your phone number.
Impatient and want to get in on a club sale but haven't received your card yet (or lost your card)? Just call the Craftsman Club hotline at 800-682-8691 (if you recently joined, give them a couple of days to process your membership). They can tell you your membership number over the phone, and will offer to mail out a replacement card.

).
If you notice that Sears has released a new monthly flyer before I do, please add an entry to the Wikipost.
Can you post scans?
No, please don't ask me. They're 20 or more pages and I don't have the time. Go to their web page and look for yourself.
Stores may sometimes have extra copies of the flyer in the tool department.
