    Fraudulent charges from Classic Closeouts
    If you get a fraudulent charge from classic closeouts, your first step should be to call your credit card provider to dispute the charge and have them issue you a new card with a new number (dont close your account, just get a new number). Many people are being charged repeatedly, so a new number is crucial to avoiding future disputes.

    I know this isnt a slickdeal, but I noticed an erroneous charge of $69.99 on my credit card statement from www.classiccloseouts.com. I did a quick search and found this thread which has several other fellow slickdealers with the same situation.

    I sent an email (which is the only way I can find to contact classic closeouts) but havent received a response yet. I think it's a good idea for everyone to do a quick check on their accounts to make sure you didnt get hit with a $69.99 charge in the last week.

    I didnt remember ordering from them, but apparently, I bought a $5 blanket a year or two ago because it was a slickdeal. So it's very likely that alot of slickdealers have this $69.99 charge.

    EDIT:
    If you do have the charge, call your provider and dispute it. It would also be a good idea to get a new credit (or debit) card number so that classic closeouts cant charge you again. You can do this by asking your provider (bank) to send you a card with a new number.
    Dont forget to submit a complaint to the BBB if you did get fraudulently charged.
    Here is the link to submit. It takes about 5 minutes. http://complaint.bbb.org

    Trust-e seems to be getting a very good response from classic closeouts, so be sure to file a complaint with them. https://www.truste.org/pvr.php?page=complaint

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    My suggestion to SDers: use virtual cards/PayPal for SlickDeals, in fact, for any online transaction...
    I know MBNA/Bank of America also offers a virtual number...
    Also with the new paypal plugin, you can use paypal to create a virtual card number for any website and any payment source... perfect if your credit card company doesn't offer the service or u don't have a credit card
    ** The person who owned the website has owned other websites in the past (like UrbanO.com), and I doubt that classiccloseouts is the only other website he owns. People have been posting that they've never made a purchase from this website, but they were still somehow charged. This means that the owner(s) has other websites and is taking the credit card information from those sites and charging them through his classiccloseouts website.
    I guess the point is, you may have never purchased from the classiccloseouts website, but you might still be in danger of being fraudulently charged if you purchased from another website they own. So just keep checking your statement regularly. **
    =====================
    A virtual card won't protect. My hit from ClassicCloseouts came from an expired virtual card number and was also higher than the card limit. I disputed it and will eventually get the money back but a virtual card simply isn't the answer.
    I wonder if this doesn't happen more often than we talk about.
    I recently had fraudulent charges from Linens & Things and Staples.
    Lucky for me the attempts were denied.
    Has anyone else had such suspicious activity?
    Thanks for the heads up. But please add Classic Closeouts to title so a bunch of people who never ordered (and never intend to order) from this site don't all read this thread for no reason. Good luck!
    I thought about that. But if I read a thread topic that said fraudulent charges appearing from classic closeouts, I would have just skipped it since I didnt think I ordered from them.
    Doubtful. Look at the other thread that was linked, many people have had similar (if not identical) charges on the CCs from this site.
    any of you with fradulent charges do any "trail offers" or anything along the lines. I had one charge about 2 months ago for 49.95 and did some trail offers with yourfree360games and hope that the charge came from one of those hidden offers that you have to cancel...if not block request from that place through your bank and if it happens again from a different place then your CC# may be stolen.
    I'm thinking that the security at classiccloseouts was compromised. I too ordered a blanket (or a pair of slippers, don't remember which) from them a few years ago, but never again.
    I got a call from BofA the other day about a suspicious $60-something charge from ClassicCloseouts.com. What's funny is that I never used that credit card for purchases after the first few weeks of getting it; I just used it for balance transfers. So it was an easy catch for the BofA fraud team.
    If you have ever ordered from classiccloseouts, make sure to check your statements and maybe even login to classiccloseouts.com and delete your account.
    change the title. If people can't remember where they ordered from, that's their problem. Your title makes it sounds like SD is somehow hacked and that hackers are somehow getting your info through SD links or something.
    This isn't even strictly a deal, but more of a deal talk kind of item. I'm not going to be the "move-it-to-deal-talk" nazi, but at least correct the title. I think there's probably a low percentage of SD'ers who ordered from that site.
    daniel greenberg.....Odd that an ebay seller (nylonsynthshow) with a very close name (Wendy Greenberger) had 146 negatvies for nondelivery in 6 days before ebay booted them and more negative feedback could not be left. They went from 100% feedback to under 50% feedback during those 6 days.
    I had the same charge. I cancelled my card a couple of days ago. I don't know what it is that I ordered (where from) but somehow they got my credit card information.
