Try your State's Attorney General's office. Mine has a consumer dept, that gets legit issues like yours apparently are, resolved very quickly.

I had bought two softwares from Pinnacle in the past... And I received the rebates within 8 weeks (I didn't even had to call)... And for competitive/Upgrade rebates you need to send original CD or First page of manual (Original)...
Exactly. OP, I seriously doubt that you are "not a noob" to rebates...TONS of companies require the physical CD or title page to a previous product...after all, you are supposed to be upgrading. I've bought Pinnacle Studios 11...both rebates came in 36 days of mailing date. I've done over $16,000 worth of rebates in the past year and I know there are bad rebate companies...but Pinnacle and rebate-zone (also do Kingston and OCZ memory) have been great...no troubles at all with a 100% return rate at an average of 35 to 45 days from mailing. If you really have done thousands of rebates, the above information should be obvious to you.

I had a pinnacle rebate rejected for "invalid upc code" and then I sent them an email asking why the heck it wasn't valid and telling them that it was the only stinking upc that came with it and they ended up sending me the check anyways.

I too never had problems with Pinnacle. I am buying the studio since long time for free after rebates. I bought Studio7, studio8, Studio9+ and Studio10+. I like the software too. I saw somebody criticizing the software. I don't know what software is in his mind. But I feel you cannot compare a free software with couple of hundreds softwarre

The software to which I was referring was their TVCenter Pro garbage, the one that comes with the PCTV HD Pro USB stick. Reading comprehension & thinking ftw...

    My 2 cents:

Not sure if there are links on SD or not, but another site (containing an F and a W) has a nice summary post with POC's and phone number for the big rebate processing companies.

If you compiled with the exact terms and conditions of the particular rebate, continue pressing the issue with both the rebate processing house and the manufacturer. The BBB site for the city where the company is located should provide a pointer to a C level executive you can contact at the rebate company. Give them a chance to make this right. If they do not come through, contact the manufacturer, the BBB, and the attorney general.

If you missed a step in submitting the rebate - and it happens, you could give it a shot, but you might just need to chalk it up as a lesson learned.

Whether accidental or deliberate, denials of rebates are not uncommon.

I did 4 deals on this site for Pinnacle Studio. All of them were rejected erroneously. One they said was past the postpark date (not true). Second said it was missing proof of purchase (also not true and I offered to send them a copy of it they refused). Third they required the actual CD of a previous product. NOT a copy of one the actual CD I am not joking. NO exceptions. The last one they stated it was not a competing product. I pointed out the fact that it was on their website as an allowed rebate still no dice.

FYI I am no noob to Rebates. I sucessfully completed the crazy deals and got paid to get a laptop, printer and router. I have done thousands of rebates these are the only ones I have not sucessfully collected. I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER PINNACLE PRODUCT DUE TO THIS DEBACLE.
the solution is LIMEWIRE OR BITTORRENT

My conspiracy theory is the rebate house randomly reject rebates but when near closing they still have budget and the consumer call, they will pay it. If no more budget, they will pull all kind of strings. I got caught in that unfortunate situation for the famous canon triple play rebate.

I bought two using 2 different address, and I use Nero as upgrade rebate.

I just checked my rebates status, The status of my 4 rebates are

Claim Status: Received, Submission is being processed
    Submission Origin: Standard Submission

I think I don't have problem with their rebates.

Another note is that If you bought it in Fry's B&M,
You can take the rebate documents to Store, they can help you get your rebates.

Ok, me trashing Pinnacle is because I've tried their products in the past. The tuners died on me, the software destroyed my windows installations repeatedly, and their customer support was nonexistent. You could not pay me to touch that junk. Of course if your experience with them is different, good on you. But don't say I didn't warn you.

I haven't done any recent rebates with Pinnacle, but I have done them in the past and never had a problem. I only company that I been hosed on was Connect3D and that was a straight up scam.

I too have had many problems with Pinnacle and also swore to never ever purchase their product again. I came across an interesting site recently and used it to complain about a NewEgg problem I had. As soon as I posted it within hours, I received a response from NewEgg in how they could make things right. You may want to also try it: http://www.resellerratings.com/

You're one of the few people I've ever seen complain about Newegg, what happened? I had 3 motherboards in a row die and each time they were willing to send me a new one. Turns out the brand was the problem, but Newegg never though twice about replacing it.

File a complaint with the State Attorney General's office in whichever state they are located. I did this with I/O Magic on a Black Friday rebate and they couldn't wait to give me my money.
