They just updated the site. Black and red models say intel 950, while the white one says x4500 (wtf?). No more cd drive for the red one.
Do a quick refresh. I see the white as having the 950.

I keep refreshing and it still says x4500 under the white one. Seriously, though, is lenovo's site run by 5-year-olds?

Now next to the communications adapter for the black model it has a link to this.

11a, 11b, 11g and 11n wireless are based on IEEE 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n respectively. The IEEE 802.11n specification has not been finalized and is currently in draft release. The ThinkPad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini-PCI Express Adapters are based on the Draft Release, Version 1.0, of the IEEE 802.11n specification. An adapter with 11a/b, 11a/b/g, or 11a/b/g/n can communicate on any of its supported formats; the actual connection will be based on the access point to which it connects.

Wireless upgradeable models can be wireless enabled with the addition of an optional wireless LAN Mini PCI Card. These systems are designed to operate only with wireless LAN Mini PCI options sold by Lenovo.

Try holding the shift key while clicking on refresh.

I went back to their home page and navigated back to the s10 page and now they all say 950, although if I still refresh that previous page, it says x4500 under white. Weird.

Yeah, that is odd. So the video thing has been sorted out. Now if we could get a straight answer on the bluetooth thing I would be a happy camper.

seems like they update and fix the page
all 3 colors have the 950 graphics and none with CD/DVD rom.

I think the black will have black keyboard.

if you click on "customize" on the black and the next page on the top right it shows the unit in full black.

All these thanks to those guys that called CS to confirm and they realized the mistake, Some SDs just can't keep the mistakes to themselves but just to confirm and comment,
    Plain Stupid.

you're stupid for believing the S10 would ever come with the X4500 graphics. Those people who called the CSRs did you all a favor so you don't bitch and moan when the product arrives with the GMA950 and no cdrive.

I think it is a very good PORTABLE laptop/netbook.

I thought my XPS m1210 was portable, but now I look at it and I think I'd rather have something much lighter.

Yeah, I'm sure if they didn't call there would be a different graphics card and a CD drive. You're a smart cookie, a real smart cookie.

    Just wow...............

So, caveat emptor? I don't think so. Consumers have a right to be certain they're getting what they pay for. Representing that a computer comes with a certain component (i.e., cdrw, x4500 GPU or free bluetooth) when it, in fact, does not is not a "typo" or sloppy web posting. You don't just cancel that with "We can't be liable for mistakes." That's called misrepresentation and the fact that Lenovo commonly engages in such misrepresentation suggests a pattern of deception and conscious indifference. These are not only deceptive trade practices but unfair competition -- bad for both consumers and competitors. What if it turns out the OS is really Win ME and not Win XP? Or suppose there's no WiFi at all? Surely at some point Lenovo has to be held responsible for misleading the public.

"Chinese-IBM" web site says "not liable for errors, typos etc..."...Well is it possible I would recieve a box of oranges instead? I was waiting for that deal for a while...But after with multiple mistakes, I got worried about the quality of the product. Sending for repairs, even covered is not so fun. So I decided to pass and wait for the reviewes...Either do it right or don;t do it....I don't care how much....Then we can talk...

The article wasn't that bad. Intel has at the moment bad combination for the Atom CPU. For the power usage the CPU is the best at the moment but the supporting hardware isn't that great at the moment. The Athlon 64 2000+ will make a great netbook CPU when it gets released with good supporting hardware but you can't buy that yet. Even the new VIA CPU is supposed to be great (little higher power usage but 30% increase in performance).
All of those CPUs are awesome every manufacture will only use one of those three choices. When a AMD netbook comes out with a similar price than that is probably the best choice (assuming Intel doesn't release something new) but at the moment the Atom and VIA chips are the only choices.
No the article WAS that bad because it suggested that AMD had a power advantage over Intel-when in reality a portable intel atom setup would have drawn about 12-13 watts less than the comparable AMD setup. They used the desktop version of the motherboard chipset that draws an additional FIFTEEN WATTS then claimed that AMD had a 3 watt power lead.

The Athlon 64 2000+ will never make a great netbook CPU, because the entire basis of the supposed power advantage was that the accompanying chipset from intel used too much power. But this entire argument was based on the fact that they used a 22W tdp chipset from intel when there are both 7W TDP and even a 5.5W TDP 3rd party modified chipset available for the Atom (which are unsurprisingly used in netbooks). On the AMD side the CPU itself was the one draining all the power, so there is pretty much zero chance that it'll ever make a great netbook CPU.

Maybe the VIA solution will be viable, but the AMD solution is honestly nowhere close to competitive in terms of power draw. Tom's hardware was totally nuts when they wrote that, I can only assume they're complete morons and not that they were rigging it on purpose.

Did anyone save a copy of the page where it said the red one has a cd-drive? They fixed the website now and I don't expect mine to have a cd-drive but I want to see if I can get away with calling them and asking for a compensation or something like that. It may work, it may not work, but no harm in trying, right?

What kind of compensation would you like?
