I have a Powerbook G4 12" and that thing weighs about 4.6 lbs, I'm sure there are light weight 12" like the X61 and X200 which weigh the same as the 1000h with 8 and 9-cell batteries.

I got my 1000H yesterday (Amazon - $449.99 : No Tax & Free Shipping). It's definitely lighter than some of the books I carried back in college, especially biology and other science books!

My experience with it has been positive so far. The touchpad buttons take some time to get use to, but overall I'm extremely satisfied. Has 3 USB ports, built-in Wi-fi and Bluetooth. 80GB drive is partitioned into wto 40GB sections. The RAM and HDD are easily accessible for upgrades. Fully charged 6-cell battery showed that I have about 5 hours worth of charge on it. Bios updates can be done with utility that ASUS installed on the hard drive. Overall I give it 4 out 5 stars (like I said, the touchpad takes a little getting use to - and smooth black finish is a magnet for fingerprints).

By the way, I ordered a Canon printer with a rebate that has to be postmarked by 10/6 - chat says that the rebate period will be extended to accomodate the late shipments (although the form doesn't indicate as much).

My order still says 9/23. I also ordered a 1000h but got the one with 160GB HDD. Should arrive tomorrow. I'll let y'all know what I think. Not sure if I am canceling my Lenovo order yet.

I'll believe it tomorrow when I see a tracking number. I haven't been charged yet, either.

Maybe I'll cancel my credit card... When they ask where their payment is, I'll explain that I've run into an overwhelming demand for my money, and my best estimate is the week of November 18.
