Good point made, hopefully everyone does realize that what was meant by Facebook was the company that made the Check it Out app and the marketing company behind it.
Facebook would be the server like myspace.

The marketing company and the one that made the Check It Out App are the same, Vyrl Mkt, Inc.
However, the coupons state to send them to CMS. This is a company that handles the logistics on behalf of Vyrl Mkt, Inc. i.e. they're in charge of redemptions by grocers and the like.
Facebook and, most likely, the manufacturers did not know about this. So far, I have not heard of any that have said this was a deal they had between their company and Vyrl Mkt, Inc.
Therefore, to me, it would seem as though Vyrl Mkt, Inc. acted by itself, issued these "fraudulent" (assuming they do not honour the redemptions made by grocers and the like), and would be held liable for the damages.
So far, what I have seen are statements issued by Vyrl Mkt, Inc. trying to cover their mistakes up with made-up excuses e.g. "hacks", "developmental website" etc. (refer to the other thread).
I can understand their frustration with the people who managed to make .pdf, but I am glad they issued the statement that: "All the offers that were properly printed through our facebook application can be redeemed. ANY copy of any coupon or anything printed or reproduced from any other source other than through the authorized Facebook application may not be accepted at the register."
After all of this, I do hope that my grocers are compensated and not given the JJ treatment.
