Good suggestion, I will do the same next time whoever will give me hard time checking out $0.01 items.

Generally, those stores want to reset the item price to last known retail price.

Man, I wish i knew how to find this stuff...any tips? Are they just in their respective departments? Already marked down? How do I walk out with a sink and only pay .01? Arent they gonna freak?

Technically I think Depot is supposed to destroy it and write it off when it gets down to a penny. If they don't usually the employees scoop it all up or tell their friends to come in and get it if the store doesn't let them. They get a report when the price changes every morning with on hands so they can price them. Most of the time if they still have them in stock, they are wrapped on a pallet in overstock and they are just too lazy to bring it down.

Check respective departments and all possible clearance end caps.

I have both success and failure while checking out sinks. All your luck. But good practice is -
- Use self checkout
- reduce volume to minimum
- use Spanish language
- if possible, try to checkout when the cashier is busy
- try to checkout as fast as possible.

Remember, once you have receipt in your hand, item is yours. And do not give them your receipt if they want.

yes, they are either supposed to destroy or give it to charity. Some stores do have setup with charities, some do not. Technically, employees will be fired if they take these items. So they ask their family members or friends to grab the items for them.

I was in a store 1 day and they found 2 pallets of $200 malibu lights went down to a penny, word got through the whole store real quick, they wouldn't let any customers buy them, employees were all taking them and having people come in to buy them. They were telling the customers that heard about it that they weren't allowed to sell them, while their friends and family members were picking them up and taking them to the registers. People were getting crazy, I thought there were gonna be fights.

Any recommendations on what time is best to go? I have some time before school at 7AM but I would feel that the workers would nothing else to do but bother me and ask if I have questions. Also is there a chance that they won't ring up for a penny? I don't want to have a bunch of stuff in my cart and in the end just leave it next to the counter for another SDer to get excited about.
