Okay for those of you who are wondering about coconut water...here is some info:

i have grown up in a tropical region so coconuts were part of a daytoday life, however the goya stuff that you get in the supermarkets is disgusting, like someone said its not 100% coconut water and has preservatives.

The 100% coconut water actually tastes really nice. There are 3 sort of "flavors"
    1. is a very raw "young" coconut which is literally flavorless.
2.: is a slightly sweet and salty coconut which tastes really good.
    3. is the ripe coconut, this water usually doesn't taste as good, and most nutrients have solidified inside the coconut. (yes there is like a jelly inside coconut #2 while a hard white substance in #3)

I have ordered tons and tons of Vita coco packs, and i have realized that not all of the packs are good, what happens (my guess) is that they mix all three types while processing, so while some turn out good, some packs have a higher content of #3 which doesn't taste as well.

Since its like a native thing to me i can tell the difference between types 2 and 3. I am sure those of you who try and get used to it, can too!

hope that helps. but all you need to know is coconut water is "Isotonic" which means it is exactly the same sugar/salt (electrolyte) content has your body so its a great hydrator.

^ I have no idea why it's so popular. I tried the Vita Coco Coconut Water in Acai Pomegranate and it tasted disgusting. My friends agreed.

It's because it's catching on among the workout crowd. It's considered a healthy, natural, hydration drink. A good alternative to gatorade.

I bought a 9-pack of coconut water on Amazon from a previous SD, and had my girlfriend try some. She said it tasted like baby cream.

TU and repped for beating Selma by 2 min

Yeh, I've tasted fresh coconut water straight from the trees in southeast asia, so when I finally tried one of these, they aren't that great (taste flat and a little pungent). However, it's drinkable and definitely better than gatorade and the likes. Ordered (subscribed) two 12 packs; going to give some away to family.

Has anyone tried the flavored ones? Any particular flavor bettter than others?

In my opinion, it tastes like sweat, with a lil sugar added. The cloudiness freaks me out as well. I'll stick with water for hydration.

I love these as I grew up on the islands. The taste is closest to what real coconut water tastes like (not the sweetened stuff Goya sells with chunks in it). They make an excellent chaser for cocktails too - think rum and coconut water.

If you can get fresh coconuts, don't bother with this, if not, then this is the next best thing.

That's because the majority of the ones you find in the supermarkets (especially Asian ones) isn't 100% coconut water. They;re usually added with sugar and other ingredients. The ones from Vita Coco has only one ingredient, coconut water nothng else. They refer to this stuff as nature's Gatorade due to its nutritional value.
