Anyone familiar with this and the ipod touch? If we don't need the extra memory, should we get this or an ipod 8gb? My kids love the gaming on the ipod.

They're pretty different from one another. I'd actually suggest the touch if they're into games as it has a bunch of touchscreen games for them to play

Personally i own an origonal ZEN and love it, it is a great MP3/4 player. If you are looking for a great MP3/4 player i don't believe it can be beat especially when you compare the price to storage space of the ZEN and the ipod touch. after a quick search it looks that the ipod touch is about $100 more than the ZEN of the same capacity. If you are looking for a device that can play games and is bloated with features and cost, go with the touch, if you are looking for a less expensive device that plays music and videos well go with the ZEN.

I have the 16GB model that I brought almost a year ago and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Updated the firmware to the latest verison and I still get random crashes, boot up problems when allowed to idle to sleep, album art syncs with a select few programs. All in all the only thing that was good about it was the batttery life. After multiple complaints to creative they replaced it with a refurbished unit that didn't have as many problems after being allowed to idle to sleep but it still had random errors during playback that made the player cut off and rebuild the whole library. I didnt bother with it to much anymore after reading about creatives customer support and I just got a pre which I use as my music player (mp3's, pandora, and habiki radio). That being said its a good price for this mp3 player if its not plagued with issues like mines were

My vision M 60 was a great mp3 player.

Get the IPod, it is more of a toy. Plus everyone has a touch.

The zens are nice because it's pretty much just drag and drop for music files, none of the crap where it's tethered to one computer.

Sound quality is better than the ipod and it has better earbuds.

Wifi is pretty much worthless but what can you do.

+1 This mp3 player comes with the ep830's which are the best headphones that I've ever used.

On a side note, on the new zune HD you can delete directly from the player. I ADORE that option. Just delete a song on the spot if you don't want it there. Great for managing space.
