Days 1–5: Dubai
In the last 50 years, Dubai has transformed itself from a small desert town to one of the wealthiest city-states in the world, thanks to the discovery of oil in the late 1960s. Signs of affluence are everywhere—from a chain of manmade luxury islands to an indoor ski resort complete with a chairlift. To get a sense of life before the oil boom, you'll head to the Dubai Museum on the city tour, housed in the historic Al Fahidi Fort, to admire life-size dioramas on pearl diving, boat building, and date farms.
Must-See: Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world, measuring in at 2,716 feet (828 m). Enjoy heady views from the world’s highest outdoor observation deck; included in the city tour.

Days 6–9: Bangkok
The remainder of your trip will be spent in Bangkok, the bustling capital of Thailand. On the included city tour, you’ll visit a handful of temples, beginning with the Wat Trimitr, famous for its 700-year-old Golden Buddha—the largest in the world, weighing in at five tons. In addition, you'll visit the Reclining Buddha at Wat Po, and Wat Benchamabophit also known as "The Marble Temple." You’ll have ample free time to explore on your own, or you can sign up for optional excursions (for an additional fee) to visit landmarks such as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, home to a gorgeous statue carved from green jadeite. Be sure to stop by one of Bangkok’s outdoor markets, such as the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, where you can purchase local fruits, vegetables, and other wares from small boats.
Must-See: Temple of Dawn, known as Wat Arun, might be the most photographed monastery in all of Thailand. Its 230-foot (70 m) spire is adorned with shards of colored glass and Chinese porcelain.
