Colorful Resort on 1,500 Acres of Private Beachfront Property
Las Alamandas is situated on 1,500 acres in the middle of Mexico’s Costalegre coastline, far from the nightlife of neighboring cities Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. One writer for the New York Times referred to his stay at the resort as “luxuriant solitude.” The property consists of just seven villas that can house a maximum of 42 guests.
Exotic flora and fauna cover the property, including yellow-breasted chats, colorful passiflora, and golden copa de oro flowers. The resort’s neon orange and pink buildings blend in nicely with these lush surroundings—they’re tucked between swaying palm trees and the thatched roofs of beach and poolside bars. An onsite restaurant serves Pacific prawns, Manzanillo-style ceviche, and other local specialties prepared by Chef Alejandro Aguilar Morales. Most of his dishes use fresh seafood delivered by local fishers and organic fruits and vegetables grown right on the property.
Costalegre, Mexico: Secluded Spot amid White Sand Beaches and Uninhabited Jungle
“Costalegre,” or “Happy Coast,” is a secluded spot sandwiched between the bustling cities of Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. It consists of a string of white sand bays that run along Jalisco’s Pacific coastline. Each bay is separated by jagged rock formations, spectacular cliffs, and giant baking-soda volcanoes.
Costalegre doesn’t have the bustling nightlife and shopping of many Mexican tourist destinations, but the area is popular for ecotourism activities such as yachting, kayaking, and hiking in nearby tropical forests. You can enjoy plenty of fresh seafood here, as many restaurants are supplied with yellowfin tuna, spiny lobster, and Pacific prawns from nearby fishing villages.
