It will likely be very loud in order to properly cool. They work great I have a similar one in my server room and used it for about 3 years before getting a nas.

Look at picture of the back of cage, it has a nice fan to "actively" cool the drives. Also the spacing between drives will be similar to the spacing you have when you mount the HDDs in a proper 3.5"...

You also missed the point that you can squeeze 5 x 3.5in drives into 3 x 5.25in drive bays. Your solution only allows 3 x 3.5in drives into 3 x 5.25in drive bays.

If your bays have the guides to keep the dvd drives level before your screw them down, this wont fit without bending or cutting them out of the way.
