But if the new system already has a drive, that's a bad option, since you'll be giving the family member the larger one :D Transfer cable is the best option :)

if you have a thumbdrive or an external hard drive you can format it with the xbox, transfer all your info to that then transfer to your new xbox..

If you get your hands on a transfer cable, everything will be copied over; even gamertags, I believe, and wiped from the old drive at the same time.
