Well, I'm cheap, and i got my m11x for cheap as well (about $470 shipped). so I gotta be careful on the upgrades. If I get 8GB ram and 64GB SSD now, that's putting me in territory of low-end m11x R2...

What's the difference between 5300 and 6400 memory for my laptop? I think my Compaq laptop (2 years old) said it could take both types for 2x2gb. Is one better than the other?

With all the crazy cheap deals for 4GB memory chips these days, I tried finding 8GBx1 modules but came up empty-- anyone know what the next step is? Do they even exist yet?

The 8gb pack is dead but the 4gb pack still works. With CA tax it was $79.11 for me before rebate, will be $59.11 after rebate. Also checked on the PNY site and says it is compatible with Mac.

It was a Patriot memory, lasted about 1 hour. It should... It's a 1066, not a 1333 which shouldn't be a problem with MBP/Apple. Only problem is with 1333 can't downclock on some.
Post #36786591 added 01-28-2011 8:42 AM by teaberry in Archived Deals
That was for a 1333Mhz RAM and not 1066Mhz. While some laptops may accept the higher speed and simply down-clock, there's always compatibility issues (I've personally experienced it on a desktop that...
