Yes that's the key. For AT&T anyway because you can just swap SIMs to another smartphone. Verizon and Sprint not so lucky.

and that only applies to the plan.
all the phones you buy from amazon, wirefly, .etc require "higher" plans with extra options. You cannot downgrade from those to the basic...

the only USA galaxy s phone that has froyo is the tmobile vibrant. there is no official froyo for the epic (sprint), captivate (ATT), or fascinate (verizon).
