Thanks carbon - great deal and deserves its own thread; I just picked one up at Sears. Model is Extech IR250. The Extech version holds the min/max value, which the Amazon one doesn't.

One other thing to consider is this unit uses a 9V battery. The Rosewill REGD-TN439L0 available from Newegg for this price when its on sale, uses two AAA batteries, which can work up to 18 hours...

Quite useful in kitchen, on electronics, and car. My latest use is to check brake dragging on a car, Disc temperature should be equal and even side to side.
