I might be inclined to go the SSD route, reason being price: a 32gb or 40gb SSD is just fine as a boot drive, and they start around the same price as the cheapest hard drives on newegg ($70-$75)

afaik, most bad SSDs are because of no TRIM support or similar problems. That is, the data isn't rewritten or unwritten properly. In storage though, it's fine.

Ah, makes sense.
Once SSD's come down in price equal to that of an HDD or Hybrid I'll be much happier too. Plus the lower power consumption, lower heat dissipation, etc.
