The sequentials are more a marketing tool, true; but SATAIII is actually relevant for anyone involved in heavy multi-tasking. Many small random reads will overwhelm a SATAIII controller less with its...

Hi, anyone know if I need a SATA 2 or 3 for 2009 Mac mini?

Thanks. Would it be crazy just to update a mobo that can support 6 GB/s?

This may be anecdotal evidence, but from what I've read from various review sites and forums, Sandisk has yet to release the SandForce BSOD fix. Anyone have additional info on that? Personal...

Your rig is almost identical to mine (except my mobo is a Foxconn and my SSD is a Vertex 2); I wonder why there is a penalty for using a PCI-E SATA3 card though, since technically the onboard...

I'd rather go with Assured Quality for SSD's than cheapness. SSD's that are poorly manufactured can result in BSOD's, loss of data, etc. That being said, there are much better SATA III's hitting...

I don't think the Ultra has ever been that reliable. The Ultra is susceptible to problems with the Sandforce controller, while the Extreme might have overcome them. In any case, I would go with the...

4k Random read and 4K queue 32 read are the two criteria most likely affecting how it feels. That's also where Crucial does better than Samsung. The high sequential read/write touted by sandforce...

I don't know that much about SSDs, so maybe I'm misunderstanding some criteria in your post, but it doesn't seem he's wrong. I thought a couple with SATA3 and 240gb went frontpage last week,...

Will this work in my early 2008 MacBook Pro? It is capable of 1.5GB/s which I guess is SATA 1. I know that the extreme will work but I'm not sure if the ultra will.

This looks like a good deal to me and I have a $10 coupon for newegg to boot. My laptop is only SataII so this will be fine and more than enough space.

The Sandisk Ultra is cheap because it only contains async NAND, not just because of the SATAII. Async gets much slower real world speeds compared to synch NAND.

NINE SATA3's??? haha man, i don't even want to ask what you're doing :P most of the mobos come w/ 2-4 SATA3's, and then the rest are SATA2's. but SRSLY, if you want that many SATA connections on...

No. (ref link:http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/sata-6gbps-performance-sata-3gbps,3110-7.html) Unless you're making bulk transfers of large data all day long, it won't make a difference since...
