picked up one b93 ($39) and one b73 ($29) , but no way to unlock b93 to become x6 ... I guess there are only 4 cores and nothing to unlock!! b73 is just easy to unlock to become x4 anyway

If you need a motherboard it seems that, at least on some mb models, MC takes off $40 with the combo purchase of either the Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz Black Edition or the Phenom II X6 1045T 2.7GHz. ...

You won't see a large savings in electricity if you are using the X6 for light duties. If it was me, I would keep the X6. If you run both CPUs at full tilt, the published difference is 30 watts, at...

I have phenom ii x6 1075t for light office use (email, web, photoshop). Is the cpu overkill? Should I sell it and get this x4 to save some electricity?

I have yet to find a game that uses more then 2 cores. I might be out of loop since Im still play SC2 and that's almost 2 years old now. It really not the number of cores that matter as much as...

Why is everyone saying these would only be good for HTPC? Sure the quad core processors are a few years old but they still are very nice for any PC. Yes, we have 6 even 8 cores today but a quad core...

Very weird. Just tried again and not working. :P Guess they removed the 2500k from the offer. Don't know what I did differently last time. Might have something to do with the items having...

Yup, that's what I get out of it - though nobody knows the exact details and motivation but AMD. Have also heard that about the B's. Makes sense, they mostly seem to show up in biz oriented HP...

They're still running the $50 off any 1155 motherboard with the 'K' processors, aren't they? (2500k, 2600k, etc.) EDIT: Not for all of them. Looks like it needs to be 3570k ($189.99) and maybe...
