It's not so much "more zoom", it's the largest gap. The larger gaps add versatility but sacrifice some quality. For instance a 70-200 f4 is better than the 18-200.

pictures from any camera/lens combination at 100% will look fuzzy/pixelated. stop looking at 100%. look at 90%, 50% or just print the pictures out and then look at the print.

Lens is okay, I still prefer the 24-70 2.8. Much better build and love the 2.8 buttery smooth bokeh. It is going to be a LONG time before the 24-70 2.8 MKII goes on sale.
