If they're 12V batteries you have to hook them up in parallel. If they're 6V, you might get away with series, but I'm not sure I'd trust it.

Use a gas stabilizer/conditioner.
I use seafoam in my motorcycle.
Store it with a full tank, and run the stabilizer thru the system.
It also depends how long you store it.
