So far I'd stick with an xbox 360. The Ceton extender has been rather disappointing. Setting it up was as simple as can be but it's slow all around, it is giving me audio problems and does not even...

I found this, re: xbox power consumption, and it seems correct, given the slim's power supply maximum output isnt even 150W (It is 135W), i'd say your estimate is wrong. Addtionally, the chart...

General question to those very intimate with HTPC. I have one hooked up to a TV and use a MCE remote I got from Amazon. I also have a wireless keyboard. At first, when using the remote, I have it set...

For those trying to decide between this and an Xbox as an extender, consider that the Xbox supports VOD apps such as HBO GO and xfinity on demand.

yeah its a no brainer (for me), especially with seeing how the UI performs and talk of functionality that should work out of the box 'coming soon'.

I like my place just fine. It's plenty big but I have no intention of putting an Xbox in my entertainment center for fear of overheating. I would much rather find space in my cabinet for this...
Hoping this is like the InfiniTV original MSRP of $400 and will drop. Nice that it's finally coming out, but it's priced too high.

I just got my Beta preview of the Ceton Extender today, it cost $159 through the beta program. I plan on hooking it up tonight or tomorrow. I'm curious to how it stacks up against my Xbox360. It's...

Good to know. I was thinking about getting one for the kitchen as well for similar reasons. I'll wait to see if any updates fix the responsiveness and audio issues. Thanks.

Ceton is a great company and I expect the audio issues to be fixed for launch. My Echo only has problems sometimes while watching Live SD tv. Which I find odd as the HD content never experiences...

Sorry, my estimates were based on the Xenons boards. Just look at it running at idle. So it is correct. And I am sure more of those xbox are still in homes than the slim revisions. Lets say I am...

$150 or less and I would bite. need to start replacing some of my Linksys DMA, but for this price point, I can be patient.

I share frosticillus thoughts on this. I really want an extender for my WMC DVR, but for only $30 cheaper than an Xbox 360, I would still buy an Xbox for the ability to play the occasional game....

if the footprint of this and xbox is an issue... perhaps you shouldn't be looking for home media networking solutions and be looking for a bigger place then your current shoe box. less power... ...

Thanks for the heads up, but at this price this is not a slick deal. I can wait for a price drop. $99 is probably my price point.

It's interesting to note that right now the echo only supports 720p but not 1080p. 1080p is suppose to be ready by 11/30 when it is released. Also, has anyone else noticed how sluggish the menus...

I just jumped the gun and bought the Target 360 deal today for 159 after GC. I did not want to wait for functionality to be added to the echo, and the slow joggy menus would just piss me off over...

This is only pre-order...won't be released until 11/30. Have to admit that I'm interested in this, but I'm failing to see how this is superior to an xbox 360 that can do most of the same + play...

another vote for the xbox 360. the old ones can be had for 100 bucks all the time, and they play games, and integrate very will with wmc. this is overpriced. 100 bucks, then yes.

Smaller footprint, less power, less noise, cheaper..... Purchase the one that fits your situation better.

Thanks...I suppose it's probably too early to get any real feedback on the difference in the media center experience between the 2 given that no one other than the few beta testers has any experience...
