Maxtor only makes HDDs. Moreover, the HDD model you specified is SATA, not IDE.

Have you tried removing the drive in device manager.... shutting down... unplugging it from motherboard.... reboot... shutdown... re-attach to motherboard and reboot?

If you are in the correct subtree CD/DVDROM delete all of them.. you can backup the registry first if you are worried. Basically delete every instance of upper and lower filters in the CD/DVD...

Weird.. Does the drive read a DVD? A CD? Does it allow you to burn either a DVD or CD? Seems to be an ITunes issue...have you removed ITunes then removed and rebooted drives yet?
