This is exactly what I use it for. Can get in it quick if needed but keeps my toddlers prying and curious hands away from it. If a thief wanted it they would snag the box and open it on their own...

It fits my full size CZ 85 combat no problem. It works if you just want to keep people you know out of it, but I wouldn't trust it against a robber.
